One of the problems in having a birthday so soon after Christmas was that it tended to be kind of a let down, since most people were still partied out from the month before. "Hey there," he replied, catching the spheres and finishing the routine with a showy bow. "I was in the neighbourhood and I thought I'd swing by to say hello."
He glanced past her for a moment, taking note of the wrapped gift on the bed. "Someone here wouldn't happen to be celebrating a birthday today, would they?"
