personality: A common way of describing Cesare, from the mouths of non-Borgia supporters, that is, would be "cruel, bastard Spaniard." And that may be true to an extent- he's selfish, ruthless, ambitious, and stubborn. He was never a favored son in his family- most of the things Cesare worked and longed for were simply handed off to his brother, Juan, and as such he's clawed his way to his current status only by means of dirty tricks against his own siblings. Due to his struggles, he feels a sense of entitlement, a notion that things are laid out for him by right. If anything goes wrong in his plans, it is always someone else's fault. When he has something in his sights, he does whatever it takes to obtain it, morals aside. Lying, cheating, bribery, or even murdering to achieve his goals is not out of the question, and he will eliminate anything or anyone that seems to stand in his way, including his allies or (at his worst) his own family. He is prone to possessiveness and jealousy, sometimes treating people as objects that belong to him rather than human beings, notably when it comes to his sister, Lucrezia.

If one were to look past that though, or just maybe not read into him that much, one would see that not all of Cesare's qualities are bad; his normal demeanor is calm and calculating; as proved by his status as Captain General of the Papal Armies, he possesses a strategic mind. He's personable, outgoing, and passionate. If he has a goal in sight, he will pursue it with determination, and he is not easily swayed against his ways. Those who are particularly close to him receive his protection and his rarely seen true loyalty. Though he may be cruel and jealous by nature, he keeps that side of him tucked away under his charismatic aura.

His cunning is another thing to be noted; he speaks with a silver tongue, and knows how to bribe and threaten to keep the people he needs at his side. He can twist those who show the slightest interest in his plots to his side, and he can snuff out those who don't. Cesare always keeps a sense of control over his attitude and surroundings when out in public. His temper is wild at times, but it only flares when he feels extremely threatened or unusually insecure. He will speak calmly to even his greatest enemies, if he feels he has control over the situation. He gets horribly erratic when he doesn't feel that security, and he will lash out at whoever opposes him- and even those who don't- if he is caught in such an extreme state.

If you're able to gain his trust, Cesare Borgia could prove to be a remarkable asset. The power he has (or had) in Roma is valuable to those that seek to pledge their alliance to him; money and the privilege of being above the law are always good to have. Though his allies must tread carefully sometimes; above anyone else, Cesare cares for himself. If anything seems to take a turn for the worse, Cesare will make decisions based on what will benefit him the most. He will sever ties and alliances without warning if he sees fit, often via a hitman of sorts as to not get personally involved. That being said, he is hasty and doesn't always make the best decisions. He's prone to acting on anger and pride.

Towards the end of his life, after his troops and funds fell through his grasp, and especially after his arrest, Cesare began believing that he was untouchable, that no mortal could kill him. Even as a poison set into his system and his plans unraveled around him, he did not give up thinking that he was still to be ruler of Italy. He kept that mentality until he was eventually silenced by Ezio Auditore in 1507.

It should also be noted that, while Cesare stole the title of Grand Master of the Templar Order from his father, he doesn't seem to be at all concerned about the Templar mission. He's more concerned about himself and the power that he could obtain, rather than the ideals and goals of peace through complete control that the Templars believed in.

abilities/powers: Physically, Cesare doesn't possess any magical powers or skills. He is however, adept at swordfighting, and he normally brandishes a sword and a pistol. He also has some skill with a crossbow, though he doesn't carry one on him.

Emotionally and socially, Cesare has a few aiding qualities. Just like his other siblings, Cesare was raised to be one of his father's personal weapons. He is a skilled strategist and military captain. He's good at lying and twisting his way through systems, bending rules to accommodate his ways. He's also very charming and can turn people to his side if he tries hard and promises enough in return. Cesare is generally amoral, so he rarely, if ever, feels regret or remorse for his actions, which can be profitable for him if he needs some dirty work done. Though, in contrast, it seems he doesn't like troubling himself with petty murders, as we see him mostly taking out enemies via his loyal subject Micheletto or another one of the trained killers in his entourage.

He's also a pretty good bullfighter if that has any relevance.

first person sample:

[there's sound before visuals when this feed starts rolling- an angry grunt and a rustle of paper, prominently. Apparently, whoever had just woken up was holding their communicator in their palm, obscuring the camera lens. Nevertheless, if you were familiar with him, you would recognize this man's voice as soon as he begins speaking.]

What sort of trick is this? [the voice is commanding, though no one is around to hear it. And suddenly the camera is set down, laying so the lens pointed towards the ceiling of the morgue. The small snap of a string sounds- this resident had just broken off his toe tag.]

Abax. Is that where I am now? I have never heard of such a city... where is my blade?! [he murmurs before finally, the man notices the device he had carelessly laid down. You can see his face for a second- a brief flash of annoyed blue eyes and dark hair, before the feed goes dark in his palm again and keeps rolling as he looks for a way out of this chilly room.]

third person sample:

Everything was gone. Cesare didn't let that sink in until he stood before the assassin in Viana. Cesare Borgia, Captain General, commander of Roma... indestructible. There was no reason for him to feel so legitimately shaken during their battle. He could scream, and he could fight without problem. Cesare barked at Ezio at every chance he had- in-between clangs of metal and the moans of death from his fallen guards. His voice, as raspy as it was, still boomed and echoed. He was sure he was intimidating- as steeled as the assassin was, there was no way he could be fighting such a battle without feeling that risk of death so close to him. They were matched in skill. It was all a matter of who got lucky first, and Cesare was confident fortune played for him.

He was all but secure on the inside. His mind was racing to the ends of the earth. His bones felt like they were literally shaking, and if it weren't for his ingrained prowess with a blade, he may have toppled over with the first heavy strike that landed at his breastplate. Hell, he nearly DID topple over when he took an elbow to his collarbone, and he stood in frozen shock for a split second when the assassin's blades pulled off his bracers like they were weak vines on a wall. His control was slipping, and Cesare didn't function well in such chaos.

Soon after his bracers were gone, the assassin took a shot at his chest, aiming to dislodge more of his armor. Cesare could've killed himself for letting the attack land. Foolish mistake. A stupid attempt to parry such a close stab wouldn't wield anything working in his favor. And even sooner after that, the assassin succeeded in stripping him down to the bare minimum. All Cesare had left was his blade and his instincts.

Those didn't last him long. Before he could comprehend what happened, he felt a stab at his side, a burning, stinging surge that dug deep below his skin, no doubt slicing through something vital.

It was not the end. He wouldn't believe it, even as his body lost feeling. Not after he had worked so hard to get to where he was. For years upon years he fought, bled, killed for his place at the head of the armies, his place at the head of Roma. He was entitled- OWED that power. And yet there were still those who opposed him. Was this assassin so blind? Still waging a war he would not win. How stupid.

He should know by now- Cesare Borgia was unstoppable. Untouchable. There was nothing that could overcome him. He was skilled, educated. He had the cunning to get what he wanted, and he had the determination to stick through his plans. Determination enough to live, even as his foe struck him down. After all, the enemy was just one man... one man who had worked and slipped his way up through the cracks, one man who had caused Cesare to lose everything he had obtained.

It was not fair, and Cesare would be damned if he let this be his end. You will not kill me, you will not have my life--

was all he could think as he was shoved from a ledge, senses numb to the rush of air around him before he hit the ground.

case no: Nope~
