It was Sia's sixteenth birthday, and she was prepared for it to be incredibly low-key. A lot of people at home were currently incommunicado, she had no idea where most of her friends had disappeared to, and she wasn't going to think about what Jessica was dealing with right now, so it was a day off from classes where she'd probably play with her

Once Jessica was back in New York, had gone through a series of doctors, and fidgeted enough to force the doctors to give her cell phone back just to get her to sit still for a while so she wouldn't bust her stitches, Jessica gave Sia a call.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIAAAAAAAAA!" she yelled.

Then the phone rang.

It was probably important to note that the doctors had given her some painkillers.

It was a valiant effort, Jessica.

"Hello?" Sia said when she actually answered the phone.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!" Jessica sang. More or less. "It's your birthday right?"

"Yes," Sia said, pulling the phone away from her ear a bit. "Thank you. I'm amazed you remembered."
