Sorry for the forever between posts. After getting a working situation for Lestat set up last month, I pretty much collapsed into my own pile of health problems that I'd been kind of ignoring to take care of him for awhile. But he's starting to do better, and so am I. (

Regarding the books - maybe they're just there for decoration? I've been playing a lot of Skyrim, and it also has lots of books all around. Some of them let you increase your skill levels, but others are just part of the decor and don't serve any function other than to give more background about the gameworld.

As far as the books go, they definitely have to do with the main character's story- they mostly refer to prisons or being a prisoner or how animal kingdoms deal with criminals, etc. The ones that don't refer to prophecy (Roman auspices) and the history of the area (also rife with mythology). However, all the books also have a little 'handwritten' note in them, along with a weird drawn symbol that faces a certain way. I thought maybe you had to pair the books together so the symbols would face each other, but you can't take the books with you. The handwritten notes are all things like "172/3 GX" and "572/4 Tk". I thought maybe they were suggesting additional reading, but I honestly have no idea. They don't start a sidequest or anything if you find a certain amount of them (I should know, I hunted all over).
That's cool that some of the Skyrim books are just...books. I'd probably just sit there and read them a bunch.
