Forgive the tl;dr in advance! I don't know if you know anything about Star Trek, so I'll assume you don't just to be safe. :)
Short story: Uhura is a Lieutenant junior grade in Starfleet.
Long story: Starfleet isn't considered a primarily military outfit, it's more like a love child of NASA, the Red Cross and U.N. Peacekeepers (canonmates feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, that's just my perception), but it is structured and operates exactly like a navy in space. He can feel free to be pinged if he runs into Uhura, she makes no secret of her rank, in fact she often introduces herself as a Lieutenant.
It might also be worth noting that my other character, Tonks, is in law enforcement. She's a junior Auror, though beyond that I don't think they really have "ranks", so you can decide if that would ping him or not - again, Tonks makes no secret of her job, so it's no big deal either way.
Emil here is technically a Knight of Ratatosk, though that title is... kind of fake and a cover-up for something else. It's not something he tries to hide or anything.
13th_captain is a Captain in the 13th Independent Armored Division of the Eldarian military, nicknamed the "Death Squadron" for the heavy losses they often sustain. This particular division operates outside of the rest of the military in a sort of behind-the-scenes operation under direct command of Supreme Commander Gaghan. Basically, this division is Eldar's military elite, so he'd probably ping Oswald pretty hard. It's also stated in canon that Arumat has been a soldier since he was at least 17.
Nash's military service is kind of complicated. He interned at the Howling Voice Guild, which is sort of a Murder Inc of his canon, but is also a legitimate military operation sanctioned by the Harmonian government, I'd guess. He didn't get chosen by a gun, though, he was just at an intern rank. After that, he moved into the Temple Guards, which are the elite division of the Harmonian regular army. It's only open to nobles, so a large part of the organization just kinda practices swordplay and sits around being pretty, but it's also a special forces division, and I think just being in it gives you a rank above common soldier, as they're big on their class stratification. After that, Nash joined the HSFDF, the Harmonian Southern Frontier Defense Force, which is an irregular grouping of uniquely skilled individuals doing dangerous special force type missions in foreign parts. They're something like the French Foreign Legion? There are ranks, but they are nebulous ranks and he's never been given an official one, as far

Uhura will definitely ping him, not really sure about Tonks, so probably not? Not that I'm thinking entirely straight right now seeing it's late here.

No rank though, since most of Earth doesn't know he exists...

Rubi (chisoku_outlaw) is an elf and an archer who also fought in a war. Not sure what his rank is either, but he led an archery unit, so...
