The brunet froze. His coffee mug, always the most important, stayed secure in hand. The paperwork in his other arm, most of it relating to the prototype portable VR system they had started designing, dropped to the floor.

"You.....repeat that," he commanded, his eyes and face blank as his mind worked to process what he had just heard.

She had really not wanted this to be painful or awkward in any way but it seemed like it was heading there fast. His reaction was not very promising, if anything. She almost felt like avoiding his eyes but kept staring; she was going to stay strong about this. There really weren't any options left.

"You heard me." On the defensive it seemed, a grating tone. In the end she did do what he asked anyway. "...I'm pregnant." Just a little quieter than the first time.

Just keep it practical. He had to. It was the only way he would be able to process this properly.

"...and what will you be doing about it?" he asked, his voice almost unnaturally calm.

"What is that supposed to mean?" She was trying to be calm but there were certain things here that were nerve wracking. In fact everything in this situation was. She'd never really been prepared for this kind of thing. Maybe she'd even thought that it really would never happen to her.

"What am I supposed to do?" Was there an instruction manual she'd missed out on somewhere, she was suddenly wondering.

Yuugi nearly dropped the tea mug he was holding, opting to put it on the counter and then lean against it for support. He wasn't expecting that... not even close..

"You... are? Are you sure?"

There was a faint heat in her face that she couldn't seem to get rid of. It contrasted with the cold tightening she felt in her chest. This wasn't as easy as she had imagined it being.

It was just... surprising. Shocking. So sudden. Yuugi never thought he'd have to deal with this, then again he never thought too much about the future. Almost, he was almost tempted to ask if it was his.. but that was silly, right?

"When did you find out?" Words were a good thing to stumble over.

"Only a few days ago." Sticking to logistics would be the easiest. Not that anything else could really be ignored but she wasn't sure what else to do. Putting her partner in this situation was not exactly something she ever imagined. Never. Not once.

But it was already done with now. Partly. "But I waited a while to ...see." Missing her period one month, no big deal. Whatever. It was into two months now and lo and behold. Getting a test hadn't exactly been easy either (but having them in this time was rather convenient!).
