In this world there are two types of creatures- humans and vampires. One or the other and each had their own place. The humans didn't like the vampires. They saw them as dangerous, sinful, evil creatures. The vampires were at least tolerant of the human's stupidity from time to time. But there were people who dabbled in the middle. A very dangerous ( Read more... )

What a typical day for vampirings. Or... night. Yeah.

Yugi may not have been as much of a powerful and well-known vampire as Atem, but that was just how he was. No one tends to notice you when you're... well... short, weak, good-natured, timid. At least he didn't have any enemies, right? He could even blend in with humans at times, as long as they didn't think he was a certain somebody instead.

The other's greeting came as a surprise. Yugi wasn't expecting to see the other during his stroll around town tonight... or at all. He and Atem weren't complete strangers though. Sort of. Their eyes met only a few times before, but they never really had the chance to actually talk.

"Oh... h-hello." Of course he'd give the other a friendly smile, doing his best not to come off as too nervous. But with how awkward he was, he didn't remember to bow or show his respect. aw shit

sure I'll get right on it note_atem April 22 2011, 03:17:28 UTC
Despite his lack of outward respect, Yugi's actions were always quite endearing. Or ...cute, one might say. Atem was glad he wasn't another rogue vampire trying to take charge. No, he was glad for the other's smaller stature and nervousness. It was so much easier to take advantage of when he had the time or the will.

His smirk widened, still leaning back against the building. "How are you this evening, Yugi?" Formality was a must. He always had to assert the fact that he was knowledgeable in just about everything.

Was he taken aback by the other knowing his name? No, of course not, he didn't tense up at all. Relax, Yugi, he's pretty much royalty! Of course he'd know your name. Maybe.

"I'm fine," Ah, better be formal back! "...Atem." Nice save, he'll never know that he almost forgot, especially not with that little smile looking a bit more sheepish. "How about you?"

The smirk curled into something slightly more sinister for just a moment. How on earth could something so sweet as this one really be a vampire? He bet that back when he was a human his blood tasted like sugar. He wondered what it would taste like now, corrupted so much as the humans might say.

"I'm doing well." There was no real call here to say it was a lie. Even if it was there was not much that could be done about it, not much that he would allow to be done about it. "I thought I'd just check in on our younger members this evening."

The vampires had the other resident supernatural residents of the city spooked. More and more of them kept coming in, all attracted to the power of the resident old one. They knew they didn't have the power to deal with him, either. No common wolf or fox or crow would have a chance around a clan leader like this. So they went begging...well, begging with bribes. One didn't approach a dragon without something for his horde.

Ultimately, it sent the man the human world knew as reclusive technological genius Kaiba Seto out into the night. Alone. His spotless white business suit was a lure for the human thugs. His power, partially unshielded and exposed to the senses of all the creatures lurking that night, was the lure for the inhuman. It would have been quite the failure indeed if he hadn't run into Atem. Kaiba Seto never failed.

But with his quarry finally in front of him, he couldn't help but be less than impressed. "You're shorter than they said you were," he commented dryly, his eyes tracing the lines of the vampire's form.

Atem still kept up the smirk as he leaned back against the building. It wasn't as if he hadn't been expecting this meeting some time or another. As if he didn't know that everyone was in a tizzy. Sometimes their begging was louder to his ears than he imagined it was to Kaiba's, even if they hadn't come to him at all. He could still hear them. And the other vampires, at times, liked to push their buttons.

Oh well.

"And you're more boring than they said you were." Not that he'd never seen Kaiba before. He had eyes and ears everywhere. But keeping up your own shadows was important.

The dragon didn't usually get out much. He didn't have any reason to. No one would dare threaten a power as old and strong as he, and his dalliance in the human world had ensured both his safety and his current comfortable state of living. He could have live animals delievered to him at any time without question. It let him lose himself in the intricacies of his machines for days, something he hadn't been able to indulge in since he was very young and studying human texts. It should have kept him out of the spotlight, really. But somehow, the vampire king had known.

Kaiba kept his surprise off his face, only raising an eyebrow slightly at the response. It made him over aware of his illusionary body, as usual. Dragons didn't have much expression naturally.

"At least you've heard of me," he replied coolly. "As I have heard far too much about you. Do you intend to attract every vampire in Japan here?"

His arms came up to cross over his chest, nothing defensive, just a loose stance as he leaned back a little further. Maybe it was to prove a point. Bearing no ill will? That he wasn't aiming for attack? Or maybe that he wasn't worried in the slightest about the other.

Still, the smirk stayed on his lips. He couldn't really help it. "I'm sorry that you look after a pack of frightened whiners." Dry sarcasm with a hint of very real amusement. It was quite hilarious. "But I'm not responsible for the vampires who show up here." Only when they did, of course. It wasn't his fault however that they chose to follow.

Yuugi couldn't help but feel pulled in to the others eyes as usual. Atem, when he had met him he had just strolled into his art shop like he'd owned the place!

But the other was so beautiful Yuugi had immediately wanted to paint him, draw him, anything! His paintings had been selling pretty well since the day they first chatted and he had finished the portrait.

The life of a starving artist was a rough one, but he never regretted it, he saw beauty in everything. Even in such a lustful creature as Atem.

"Evening." he greeted.

Atem had never tried to be overly sultry with Yuugi. Despite his somewhat sugar-sweet ways, he'd always wanted to try and pull the other in naturally. No glamour, no claiming, no anything that would ruin the situation between the two... no matter how easily he could have done it.

He smiled a charming sort of smile, continuing to lean lightly. "What are your plans for this evening?"

"I was thinking about going for a walk but I heard it might rain...so I guess I'll close shop early tonight. Sketch a little." If he was lucky maybe the vampire would let him draw him again!

"You know, the usual." It really all just boiled down to those things. Yuugi walked to find inspiration in things so he could create more art to sell.

The other was given a slight nod. It wasn't that he hated the rain, he could understand the aversion to it. Though staying in the entire night sounded almost a little drab compared to other things that could be done.

A murmur of thought passed his lips as he still watched the other carefully. "Any particular subjects in mind?"
