Prophecy, fate, destiny- words of these caliber always seemed to be thrown around when Atem was involved. You'd gotten so used to hearing them now that he'd spent ten years entwined personally in your life. They just didn't seem important anymore. He'd stayed, he'd grown attached to you; whether that was destiny or not didn't matter anymore. This ( Read more... )

4. Because fate told me to take that number. whitewizardboy July 26 2011, 23:35:30 UTC
He could barely see a thing, let alone know where he was. It felt warm in here, oppressively warm. It was almost hard to breathe. However, he knew that there had to be some means of navigating darkness. After all, darkness can't exist without some form of light, right?

After a hour, he was about to give up. It was becoming hopeless in this dark, oppressive place where he couldn't even see his own hand in front of his face. Being almost blind nearly made him trip over something, a warm, huddled mass that he finally stopped and touched what was in front of him.

"S-sorry," he apologized, not knowing if he had tripped over a person or if he was talking to himself in the darkness. "Didn't see you down there...-" the texture of the hair, the way it was formed... and how soft it was... it... It couldn't be...

"A-atem-san? I-is that you?"

WHAT IS IT WITH YOU GUIZ AND FATE note_atem July 26 2011, 23:38:54 UTC
He stayed crouched and pushed back as far as he could into the corner that shouldn't have even been there in the first place. The figure that had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, was a great contrast to his eyes. Worse yet, was he really supposed to believe someone else was in here with him?

It seemed like it took a while for his eyes to even focus on Ryou's figure as he stared up. "What is your purpose?" His words were slow, unsure, and thick on his tongue as he tried speaking them.

BECAUSE FATE IS A MEAN BITCH. :/ whitewizardboy July 26 2011, 23:52:28 UTC
"My purpose?" Ryou was confused by the question. "Atem-san, it's me: Ryou. Ryou Bakura? We were..." If it wasn't so dark, the pink on his face would have been obvious, "we were together for ten years... in Domino City. Don't you remember? Where you..." he paused, remembering a terrible hurt in his chest that he had felt when Atem had suddenly died. At first, he had thought it was the Ring suddenly reappearing to wreak havoc on the world again, but the only thing on his body at the time was the scars the Ring had left behind.

Now that he thought about it, the pains were all but gone now. Almost like a distant memory.

"Are you all right, Atem-san? ...You were in so much pain, last I saw you..."

THAT'S THE ONLY LESSON WORTH LEARNING IN YGO note_atem July 26 2011, 23:56:42 UTC
That name that kept being repeated to him was garbled. He couldn't really even get a hold of it- the person's voice was distorted every time he spoke it. It made him cringe, almost if the noise was painful for him to listen to.

The recall of events was even less pleasing to listen to. His hands went to his head as he ducked down into himself even more. "What do you want?" His voice had gone weaker. "What sort of test is this now?" He had only just escaped his chains, it must have been more punishment.

Yuugi rushed towrad the scream when he heard it, please don't let this be what he thought it was...! He only vaugly remembered this part of his past because of all of his...

Yuugi paused when he relized he was facing himself, the 'who's next' barely even registered. His eyes wide.

So this was him durring that time, all the times he had blanks in his memory, the heavy feelings of rage...and madness.

"...!" Yuugi turned and bolted, not knowing what else to do!

If it had been anyone else the spirit would have let them run away. He didn't have time for games with opponents that weren't worth his time. However... the few split seconds he had to stare deeply at that other person were slightly. Well. Troubling.

It had seemed as if he was staring at other self. That was quite impossible. Yet somehow he knew he couldn't have been hallucinating it. He was still sure that he was residing in his other self's body, though, so the appearance of another one could only mean one thing.

"Impostor." His growl was loud as he took off after the kid.

Yuugi heard the growl, ohgod ohgod he never knew how to deal with Atem when he was half crazy from the darkness! What did he do to deserve getting stuck here in /this/ particular point in time, even Seto was completely nuts durring this time!

He didn't even think to try to argue with this mad other of his. Just contenued to run as fast as his legs could possibly carry him, terrified.

"Not again not again not again!!"

The spirit propelled himself as fast as he could possibly go. He might not have liked a whole lot of people, but Yuugi and his friends were at least important. That was really all the sense he had left in him. Protect them through violence. It had worked out well all the time.

So he had to catch this punk. Luckily, somehow, he knew these dark alleyways as if they were his second home. He knew which ones to twist and turn out of to end up right in front of the kid. And once he did his hand shot out to grab the front of his shirt.

The sennen mark was burning brightly on his forehead as he glared at him. "Explain yourself. Now." It might have been worth something to get a little information before they played a game.

'When you arrive, that being could strike at any time and any place.'

She has had missions like this before, in a long ago time when this world had not been her home. It was the last thought she has before Cissnei opens her eyes to find him staring back at her, her surprised expression caught in the mirror over his shoulder as well. This... This is familiar.

"I need just another minute." Cissnei tells him, not quite knowing what was going on, not really caring until she can at least move to brush past him, stopping next to the man to raise a hand to touch him.

It's really him, when not but a few minutes ago Atem had been...

The other new earring was secured onto the side of his ear (perhaps just bought on a shopping trip with her of some sort) before he looked over at her. It was strange to see her act like this, even more so since the mood was relatively calm. She was good at picking up things that were to be paid attention to.

He turned, gazing at her for a moment. "Is something wrong?"

She does not move her hand even as he turns, letting fingers slide over fabric before she pulls them away. She knows this moment, it was familiar somehow.

Cissnei had lived it before.

"Just let me stay close, alright? I have a few concerns about the security." She tells him once Cissnei finds her voice again, tilting her head to give the other a small bit of a smile, though hazel eyes seemed distant. "But have fun, tonight is, after all, about you."

When she pulls away, it was to her suitcase, down to the bottom where the lockbox that held her materia stayed.

He thought he had become good at picking up indicators from her that something was wrong. Even when faced with blatant spoken facts about why she seemed slightly shaken up, he almost felt like it was more than that. Security had never really been too much of an issue.

Sometimes fans got out of hand, sometimes people with darker intentions tried to get their way, but it had never been so much of an issue that caused her to react like that. ...or was he imagining things?

He managed a soft smirk for the sake of appearance in the face of all this. "When have I ever really kept you far?"

The honking seemed only to come from a dream. Kaiba's mind was still fully occupied with what had just happened. Save him? Atem was the one who tended to do the saving. He was more tempted to just let his rival struggle things out on his own, no matter how close they got. Neither of them would allow for any less, thanks to their considerable pride. But he couldn't just let anyone take his rival away from him. Kaiba was as sure of that as he had been of anything else in his life ( ... )

A seemingly rare warm smile appeared on his lips. It seemed almost practiced and natural now, rather than the usual one-off he let go at random points in time. "Usually." The comment was wry, however, normal behavior on his part.

The flowers were shifted lightly as the piece of paper was slipped into his pocket. "But she wouldn't take no for an answer."

It had been ten years in their relationship, plus whatever time difference there was between before and now, but Kaiba still felt awkward as the subject of that smile. At least...he thought he was the subject of that smile. The mention of an unknown 'she' rose his suspicions.

"She?" he had to ask. Some woman had bought the flowers?

A slight confused look crossed his face before he grinned again. "Yes, she." Whatever game Kaiba was playing to get out of taking the present wasn't about to work. He moved closer before stepping more down the sidewalk.

"But I'm sure she'll want to give them to you so let's go." Every time he talked about this mysterious 'she' his tone grew warmer. After saying so he started walking.
