Busy, busy, busy. You'd warned Atem he wouldn't be able to see you for the weekend due to some work that had piled up on you. He'd accepted, of course, with a grin nonetheless. Work\school\whatever is important so he knows to stay out of the way. It was late into Sunday. You had made so much progress. Almost finished. Almost done...
For just a moment you think you heard Atem call out your name in a tone that was rather panicked- petrified, even. It gets you to look over your shoulder, before shaking your head of course and rubbing your eyes. You'd stayed up too long. If you were hearing voices now perhaps it was time for bed. A streak of lightning accompanied with the sound of a new downpour cleans out your thoughts. Back to work.
It's an hour later into the AM hours, you were just about finished with your work. A buzz arrives at your door, or perhaps an intercom from a secretary. Without waiting for an answer from you Atem just sort of trudges in, wet from the rain. A few things stand out greatly to you. His hair is slicked down with the water. There's a scrape across his left cheek. He's wearing an entirely too big and completely ratty purple hoodie (something that you've sure you've never seen him in before. It's so not his style!). His stance seems slightly caved in. And his eyes are hollow.
"I need a place to stay." He murmurs, his gaze not meeting yours. A small streak of lightning followed by a ridiculously large bang of thunder gets him to look up. A weak grin appears on his lips. "For a few minutes. To get out of the rain."
