Have you met the most impossible, yet most adorable little girl on the planet? Atem and Kaiba's pride and joy? Their little Yuiko? Well of course you have. How could you forget a face like that? It's almost her fifth birthday, too! Just a week away. She's almost as fond of you as you are of her. She also won't let you forget that she has the two ( Read more... )

I'm surrounded by little girls O.o... whitewizardgirl October 10 2011, 05:24:58 UTC
She had wondered why Atem had chosen her, of all people, to let her take care of his little girl, let alone how Kaiba had agreed to it.

Some things she just wouldn't understand in life.

She didn't have any children of her own, she had never really planned on having children, but looking after Yuiko a few times...

She was starting to warm up to the idea.

Setting her things down, she kept her distance a bit to let the little girl and her 'daddy' part ways in peace. She felt a smile coming to her face, remembering when Amane used to say long goodbyes to their father as well. It made her heart go out to them.

After a big giant hug, some snuggles, and promises to be fulfilled later, Atem was on his way. Surely he'd be back soon, but for now, the nearly-five-year-old turned towards Ryou with a still watery smile. But she was trying to not be sad.

"Thank you for looking after me for a while." She usually was adoringly polite, a light bow accompanying this statement.

Ryou returned the bow. She was going to be polite if someone was polite to her first.

"It's not a problem, Yuiko-chan." And she meant it. Best times she's had in a while, in fact.

"So, what shall we do until your father returns?"

Yuiko seated herself on a nearby chair, draping her arms over the arm in a nearly dramatic fashion.

"Mm..." She seemed not to know what to say to that. "What do you wanna do?" Those big crimson eyes were turned up at the woman.

Cissnei isn't good with kids.

Well, she isn't sure how to act around kids. But Atem had asked her to, and she never said no to a favor asked by her friend. So as she let the girl into her apartment Cissnei is a little awkward around the girl, despite knowing her since birth.

"Sorry, there isn't much to do here." Cissnei says to Yuiko, adjusting her jacket as she shut the door behind them. "But if you need something to make yourself more at home, let me know."

Yuiko was still a little teary-eyed from Atem's departure. She quickly rubbed the backs of her hands along her eyes to try and get rid of the evidence. She then offered Cissnei the best smile she could muster.

"What kinds of things do you like to do?" Cissnei was the coolest lady sometimes. She even worked for her Tou-san, which made her super awesome. Yuiko knew she was in good hands with Cissy.

"Well, I spend most of my time working for Kaiba." She admits, shaking her head softly. "There is only little bit of time I get to myself, to be honest... What do you like to do, Yuiko?"

That might help, at leaast get them start to where they need to be."

Immediately she seemed to sadden, her expression drooping. She tried to hide her eyes behind her thick fringe of bangs (in a possible move she learned from one of her fathers).

"...am I taking up all your alone time?" Who knows where she heard words like that.

Oh Soundwave was fond of her, as fond of her as a mostly emotionless former robot could be. Soundwave didn't mind human kids as much as he had thought he would, probably because he had two of his own. A set of identical twins that could only be told apart by their favorite colors.

Soundwave had been a bit...surprised perhaps? When Atem told him he could watch Yuiko for a few hours and decided to let his twins come along. The Blue one, Frenzy, enjoyed to play music loud. It didn't matter what kind, the red one, Rumble, liked to fight.

When the two were together they were hellions but with Soundwave they knew better and would simmer down.

That didn't mean they didn't try to teach Yuiko how to throw a few punches or play music as loud as she could tolerate it.

Atem has let Yuiko stay with her father? More like forced. Not that Kaiba really objected to looking after their daughter, but it was a dangerous decision. Only a few days ago, nature had conspired to lay out the formidable CEO with the worst of blows. He had caught a nasty cold, giving Mokuba an excuse to keep him in bed for a few days, and horror upon horrors, it had taken his voice. A few days of forced medication had the brunet feeling better and much less contagious, and the doctor had given the okay for some resumption of normal activities. But his voice just hadn't come back. Not willing to suffer the embarrassment of not being able to fire anyone properly, Kaiba was working from home ( ... )

Her father being sick was a terrible thing. It meant even less time to spend with him, and that was plain unacceptable. Now that her daddy had stepped out for a little, and her father seemed to be in better spirits, she decided it would be okay to spend a little time with him.

She approached slowly and softly, setting a cup of freshly brewed coffee down on the table. Only after did she come closer, looking at the cards he was pondering over. His deck, of course. A sort of dreamy smile came to her face at that.

"I wonder if I'll ever have a deck as strong as yours, Tou-san."

Kaiba's fingers paused in their shuffling. He glanced over, drawn by his daughter's voice and the smell of that coffee. It looked like neither Mokuba nor Atem had gotten to her yet, thankfully. He had a feeling the drink wouldn't be allowed otherwise.

"You will," he rasped as he put down the cards to reach for the cup. "You're a Kaiba."

Reaching up, she climbed her way onto the couch next to her father's side. She was careful to stay still as he was reaching for the hot drink, however, as she didn't want it to spill on the cards, or him.

She smiled up at him. "Are you feeling better yet?"
