There was really no explanation for it. Trying to "hang out" as normal people didn't really do either of them justice, nor did it really suit either of them. It led to a lot of awkward posturing and standing around before inevitable arguments arose. Eventually, somehow, the Kaiba Corporation office of the CEO himself became the common ground in ( Read more... )

Running a business was increasingly time consuming. Seto had become accustomed to sitting down for hours with his eyes set on his laptop without much of a care for his surroundings. He was unmoving, concentrating in his work. It was almost mechanical the way he would just sit there, back to the world outside his window with not a single sense of curiosity for it. His life was all categorized in this screen and ripping away from it would mean a waste of precious time.

Atem had made it a point of turning his office into his main hangout for some reason but Seto had never exactly complained about it. The guy was quiet, whenever he got into his affairs it was almost as if the guy wasn't even there. During the beginning if this new ritual, Seto had always wondered what compelled Atem to come back every time. He recalled the first few times he had been here, Seto had felt guilty. Normally he was alone here with the exception of a secretary or Mokuba coming in to leave him information, so the change had been a little drastic. There was a ( ... )

It was a real shame that the quiet between them was so damning. The air in the office was calming. Even the rhythmic sound of Kaiba's keystrokes could be rather hypnotizing given the right mood. Today had definitely been one of them. He couldn't remember the last time he'd had a full night's sleep, but if asked he'd lie. He had to pretend to at least try to be normal.

The pencil had slipped from his grip completely at this point, book falling to his lap. He instinctively curled, snuggled up along the back of the couch, head on the arm. His breathing slowed as he dozed before he completely went unconscious.

This type of sleep was deep. It seemed that he felt comfortable enough around Kaiba now to just pass out in his office. This would become a one-time experience if Kaiba threw a fit about it, but for now... for now he didn't really care. In the company of his rival and somewhat awkward friend, he felt safe and warm and at ease.

Seto must have been mindlessly looking out the window for a good set of minutes that by the time he turned around to give Atem a glance, he was knocked out. Great. Any later and Mokuba would be calling asking where he was ( ... )

If it had been a normal sleep (and what the hell was that even) Atem might have stirred a lot harder than he had the moment Kaiba touched him. As it was, his eyelids fluttered while closed slightly, a soft and annoyed exhale leaving him. It seemed Kaiba put enough care into really not trying to wake him up, so the transition of being on the couch to being in Kaiba's arms wasn't a terrible one ( ... )
