It had occurred to him more than once today that something must have been on his partner's mind. Even if he could mind-read though he still wouldn't have intruded. He couldn't do much more than ask, even if the response was met with a frown.
"Thinking about what?" He could only push so far, but Yugi didn't seem offended. Yet.
"It's... about something we did a while ago." Can't place the blame on Atem and all that, that's not what partners do~
"...You remember that one day in school, don't you?" All the guilt and awkwardness right nooow. "When I was trying to do my work and I told you not to bother me and..."
Atem loomed closer, casually sitting on the desk. It wasn't really sitting but it suited his purposes just fine. He studied his partner's face as he spoke, and eventually when realization dawned on him, his eyes lifted as his head turned away.
"-aa. Yes. I remember it." Now was no time to be shy, but he was having worse thoughts than that. He was suddenly worried Yugi was feeling ashamed about it, or angry. "What about it?" He had no choice but to forge ahead.
Yugi lightly bit his lip as he tried to think of a response that wouldn't make his partner too uncomfortable. "I was kinda curious about something and wanted to ask you about it..."
But he could sense that the other felt a little uneasy and frowned, before quickly finishing. "--But we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."
