It looks like the Motorola CHARM has Android, which means loads of apps (seriously, they have just as many as an iPhone without the restrictive app store bullshit). It also has a full keyboard and doesn't look super expensive (idk what your discount would be).
If you really hate your phone, I wouldn't keep it, no matter how shiny the web is. Having a shitty phone is just an annoyance. I ended up going the phoen + iPod touch route and it's not all that great either.
Yeah, I ended up sending it back. CNet says the Charm can be buggy and has design problems, which I can imagine annoying me as much as the other phone. I'm looking at some higher-end Android phones with keyboards like the G2 and the MyTouch Slide 3G, but I don't know what kind of deal I can get on those.
The T-Mobile people said to call them as soon as the tracking number on the return phone is active, and they could order me a new phone right away. So I'll call tomorrow.
Now is when you make friends with Mobile17.com - it's a good, odd little service, that helps install (among other things) ringtones and backgrounds on your phone - if you have a picture or a sound file, there is a way to get it on your phone. Or go back to your old phone - that's not a crime either!
Also, interesting random shout-out to oatmeal - I've been eating it every morning for like a month straight (Maple+Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Swirl pre-made ones, alternating every day because... I have OCD, lol)
Oh, also, Mobile17 is free, but they make you pay in bandwidth equity (a.k.a., "you have to wait in line") unless you want to start using it as a pay service.
I have the...HTC MyTouch Slide 3G, I think. If that's not it, it's something very similar. I love it so much. I can Facebook on it and read ebooks and listen to last.fm. Not so sure about the alarms, but I do use Google reminders and it works like a charm.
I was looking at the MyTouch Slide, and that actually looks amazing. It's a full-featured smartphone but with a KEYBOARD, which is rare. I think that's what I want. I just hope I can afford it!
