also, I agree with the general sentiment. After living through the dot-com/9-11 bust, where I lost my job and couldn't get a real replacement for about 6 months, I just can't get too agitated about this one. I realize it's on a much larger scale than the internet bubble, but I feel that, personally, if I could survive that one I will get through this one as well.
Oh yea. I definitely wouldn't want to be a condo salesman right now. Also, I bet the porno industry isn't doing super awesome right now but they're just not going to go belly up.
The only point I would make is that most people are in debt up to their eyes and can't weather any bumps. I am constantly surprised by the lack of understanding people have about money. Cool chart!
Oh yea, definitely. fluctuations are always tough for some people. I just wrote this entry because a lot of people seem to be talking like the whole world is sinking into a pit and will never improve for anyone.
In 2001 the entire web industry bottomed out and people were talking about the end of the internet. I know a lot of people who couldn't find any work for a few years, but it eventually improved.
I would say that high end art, like tho people who buy Picassos and stuff is in the decline and will continue that way, but craft and handmade art is in the uptick because people will be looking for cheaper gifts for Christmas.
On a totally serious actual factual note about christmas sales in this area. All the big retailers are all complaining about how it is the worst year ever and no one is shopping, but I have heard that urban outfitters and hot topic have been doing very well - so maybe people just don't want to shop at target or best buy or wherever we keep hearing about.

Good to see you can always rely on the steady porno market. They should have their own stock market.
Where's the line for ART? Specifically, will the craftiness/tshirt market pick up again or are we past that boom? Consult plz.
