Hankyung sat around yet another boring Holiday party. Music with bells was being played loudly throughout the small building, almost disguising the drunken laughter of his peers. Everything in the room seemed to be so happy, the giggles, the cheerful music, even the colors of the walls were so bright they seemed to be smiling.
His eyes scanned carefully around the overly crowded room, his eyes fell upon everyone’s curled lips, he wondered why his own seemed to lay so flat and dead, the thought tugged at Hankyung’s lips turning them into a unbecoming frown.
“Hannie!” One of his co-workers let out in a shrill cry, throwing their arm around Hankyung’s shoulder. Hankyung’s body swayed a bit taking in the weight of his friend.
“Why so glum?” Sungmin giggled, losing his feet and falling onto Hankyung’s lap.
“I’m not.” Hankyung replied, turning his face in the opposite direction of Sungmin. In an attempt to avoid the vile reek of liquor that the other man’s breath possessed.
“Don’t lie to me!” Sungmin spoke his face flashing serious for a moment before breaking out into laughter.
“I-” Hankyung began to reply but was cut off by a desperate act to try and catch Sungmin before he fell backwards onto the floor. But Hankyung missed. Luckily, Kyuhyun had been nearby watching the whole thing and had rushed over to catch his boyfriend.
“Aish, be careful!” Kyuhyun scolded pulling Sungmin up onto his feet.
“Oh Kyuhyunnie!” Sungmin cried throwing his arms sloppily around the younger man. “I- I was just talking to ol’ sourpuss here and I think I figured out why he’s so sad.”
“Yup, uh huh,” Kyuhyun tried to humor Sungmin as he began to drag him away, giving Hankyung a sympathetic glance.
“He’s still mopping over that chick dumping him! Can you believe she broke it off on Christmas Ev- Oh I think I’m going to be sick!” Sungmin quickly covered his mouth and ran flailing out of the room.
Hankyung let out a small chuckle over his intoxicated friend’s actions before letting the frown attach itself back on. Thoughts of the girl he planned to propose to rushed through his mind, almost knocking him out of his chair.
He shook his head before standing. He decided all the alcohol this room could hold would not make him feel even a tiny bit better and it would be better to just go home take some sleeping pills and deal with everything tomorrow.
As he walked through the room he gave small waves to everyone and some small bows to his superiors, and even said a few goodbyes to some special people before exiting the office. He felt a heavy weight lift off his chest as he exited the office leaving behind the laughter, loud music, and heater turned too high.
The new environment of the hallway felt nice, or it did until every wall he looked at he remembered pressing his girlfriend against and giving her something to moan about. He let out a small sigh as he pressed the elevator button, dreading all the memories that area would bring.
A loud ding, made Hankyung lift his eyes from the floor and step foreword, not even considering the possibility someone could be exiting the elevator, therefore he ran smack dab in the middle of someone.
“Oh I’m so sorry!” Hankyung spoke quickly bowing apologetically.
“It’s quit alright. Partially my fault too.” A surprised voice replied. Hankyung felt a hand on his shoulder as if to tell him to stand.
“Thank you,” Hankyung smiled looking up to face a man with a perfectly sculpted face. A face unlike any other he had seen outside of a magazine. His hair was even perfectly in place a small flip in the front, which didn’t seem to be stuck that way with ozone killing hair products.
Hankyung’s face twisted with confusion as the other man looked up slightly before a smile crinkled his face. “Mistletoe.” He spoke simply.
“Hmm?” Hankyung glanced up seeing the familiar white and green plant. It was on the top of the elevator entrance. “Oh,” Hankyung was still slightly confused on the subject. He always saw mistletoe as a thing for a man and a woman not two guys.
“I wouldn’t want to insult the holiday or my savior.” The man spoke casually, leaning foreword to capture Hankyung’s lips. His fingers, lightly, had a hold of Hankyung’s chin as he placed his lips softly against the other.
Hankyung stood still, eyes wide open in shock. This simple kiss from a stranger seemed to turn the blood in his veins into an energy drink making his heart beat more rapidly than it had in ages. Any memory of another kiss was swiped from his mind. The butterflies that came alive in his stomach fought to escape as the kiss came to a gentle end.
“Have a merry Christmas.” The stranger smiled, the dimples that appeared enriched the man’s appearance and made Hankyung’s face begin to heat until it felt as if it was boiling.
“Y-You too.” Hankyung tried to smile but ended up just staring blankly at the other man. His eyes focused on a small name tag that read ‘Siwon’ even the guy’s name sounded good.
Hankyung slowly backed into the elevator ,smiling, knowing exactly what he wished Santa would leave under his tree for tomorrow morning.
