Summary: Hyukjae infiltrates Hankyung's gang after messing up a previous mission from Siwon.
“Mmm you are so beautiful,” Hyukjae whispered placing a soft kiss to Donghae’s temple.
“Erm,” Donghae mumbled nuzzling his head deeper into Hyukjae’s chest, not ready to leave the world of dreams behind just yet. Hyukjae let out a small laugh before taking a pleasant whiff of Donghae’s strawberry shampoo.
The door bursting open disrupted this pleasant moment and turned it into an awkward one as the gang leader Hankyung stared down at them. “Both of you up now!” he commanded before storming out of the room. Hyukjae and Donghae quickly got out of bed and began to slip on their clothes. Sounds of Hankyung waking up other members of the gang motivated them to move faster.
Hyukjae began to panic as he tried to think of a reason for this special wake up call, the only one he could think of is he was figured out and his death was coming near, or his torturing then death as near. He pulled his shirt on inside out and backwards but it didn’t matter, he wouldn’t be able to fix it with the shaky conditions of his hands.
He had hoped he would have been able to tell Donghae the truth about who he was. And he had hoped he could find out if those people he killed that night was part of Donghae’s family. He hadn’t meant to kill them, everything was supposed to be a simple drive by but Heechul’s gang members made it more difficult by exiting their vehicle before they got to the point Hyukjae was supposed to shoot them.
Once the enemy gang members spotted him they grabbed a few hostages, a family, a middle aged woman and man and an early twenties male, who Hyukjae assumed was their son. Being new at situations like that Hyukjae was to scared to do anything, and so was his fellow gang member Kibum. Next thing he knew he was getting shot at and his immediate reaction was to shoot back, however he didn’t aim he just shot out of fear, killing the mother and son while Kibum accidentally shot the father.
Images of woman choking on her own breath as Heechul’s gang members let her body drop to the ground haunted Hyukjae every night, along with her desperate cries to be released or to at least let her son go. Their screams constantly echoed in his ears.
“Hyuk?” Donghae’s sweet voice tugged Hyukjae out of his horrifying memories.
“Hm?”
“Are you okay, you don’t look so good.” Worry lined Donghae’s innocent face.
“I’m fine Hae, I’m fine.” Hyukjae reassured, “But um we should get going.” Donghae nodded in agreement before they exited the small bedroom.
As they entered the hall they got in with the flow of people heading into the conference room. Once inside they waited for the final few people to file in followed by Hankyung. All eyes were on the leaded as he walked to the front of the room.
“Alright everyone, we only have a little bit of time to plan this but it is going down today and we are doing it right. And this is going to be successful.” Hankyung glared around the room. “Today we are killing Choi Siwon.” A few shocked “what”s were muttered throughout the room. People lanced wide eyed from one to another. Hyukjae’s heart froze solid at the words.
“He has become more of a threat then he originally was and now needs to be dealt with.” Hankyung hissed, anger laced in his voice.
“But he’s heavily guarded.” One gang member called out.
“He won’t be tonight, he will be alone tonight.” Hankyung answered calmly.
“How do you know that?”
“I just do, do I sense distrust among you?” Hankyung snarled his eyes tracing over the crowd. When no one spoke up again Hankyung continued speaking, “Since tonight is going to be such a small job I’m only taking two people with me. And I have already decided. One shall be our newest recruit Donghae and the other shall be our old comrade Eunhyuk, a loyal friend of mine.”
Hyukjae didn’t hear his fake name being called, he was too preoccupied but trying to think of how he could inform Siwon of what was going to happen. He couldn’t let his leader walk into this deadly trap.
“Hyukkie, I’m scared.” Donghae whispered as he clutched the older man’s shirt.
“Scared of what?” Hyukjae questioned.
“Of our mission…”
“What mission?” Hyukjae questioned alarmed.
“To kill Siwon… weren’t you listening?”
“What? Us? We have to kill him?!” Hyukjae panicked, wondering if he would have time to warn his leader.
“With Hankyung we are the only ones going…” Donghae fidgeted nervously, “What if I’m not ready?”
The panicked expression on Hyukjae’s face slowly washed away, “Aw don’t worry you are ready. I’ve prepared you well.” Perhaps too well, Hyukjae thought, caressing the younger boy’s cheek.
“Eunhyuk, Donghae come with me.” Hankyung motioned for them to follow as he passed, they obediently followed. They were brought into a small room with three chairs this is where Hankyung went into depth of his plan. He explained how they were supposed to hide in a darker part of the alley incase he needed them. And only to come out if he called them. He explained how they would go around twelve and Siwon would arrive half past midnight.
Hyukjae was glad Donghae and Hankyung were too wrapped up in the plan to notice his nervous squirming or eyes watching the clock and door looking for a time to escape and warn Siwon. However he had no such luck as soon as they were done there they practiced shooting for hours along with hand to hand combat. Then they were rushed off to eat. Luckily before they were rushed into a car Hyukjae was able to sneak off to the bathroom and send Siwon a text message of warning, now he could only hope Siwon would either not show up or bring lots of back up.
Hyukjae began to wonder what Donghae would do when he found out, and he also wondered if Donghae would get hurt in the cross fire, because that would be the last thing Hyukjae would want.
*************************
“Hae, I have something to tell you.” Hyukjae finally spoke after building up the courage to do so. They had been waiting for Siwon to show for the past twenty minutes but nothing happened yet.
“Hm?” Donghae turned to him.
“I’m not-”
“Oh my gosh there he is!” Donghae pointed to a man walking towards Hankyung. Hyukjae cursed Siwon’s timing but fell silent as he heard Siwon begin to speak.
“Hey,” Siwon smiled pleasantly. “Are you ready for our date?” Siwon grinned wrapping his arms around Hankyung’s waist. “It’s all I’ve been able to think about all day,” Siwon leaned his forehead against the older man’s. Hyukjae and Donghae both watched with confusion wondering why Siwon was being so lovey-dovey to Hankyung.
“Don’t touch me,” Hankyung spoke weakly, pushing the younger man away.
“How come?” Real hurt reflected in Siwon’s eyes.
“Don’t play games with me Siwon,” Hankyung sighed tiredly.
“I’m not the one playing games here. I think you are.” Siwon motioned to the gun strapped to Hankyung’s side.
“Me?” Hankyung scoffed. “I don’t think so. Don’t pretend to be so innocent I know what you’ve done! ‘I’ll never betray you Hannie, I love you.’ All lies!” Hankyung growled shoving Siwon back angrily.
Hyukjae watched as his leader stumbled back, his eyes still burning into Hankyung’s. “I’ve never lied to you,” Siwon spoke calmly.
“Oh really? Explain these then!” Hankyung ripped an envelope out of his pocket and shoved it against Siwon’s strong chest. Donghae and Hyukjae each exchanging glances wondering what lay inside.
Siwon casually opened the envelope and flipped delicately through the pictures. “What about them do I have to explain?”
“That’s one of your men, isn’t it? Kim Kibum? Am I right? One of your men working with the enemy. Or at least the person you claimed was your enemy.”
“He was undercover and it’s not my fault if he falls in love with Heechul.” Siwon replied coolly, his normal replies seeming to fuel Hankyung.
“I have another question for you to answer.” Hankyung pursed his lips together, “Donghae, Eunhyuk come out here please.” Both shuffled out of the dark from the order. Hyukjae’s heart began to beat rapidly he knew this situation would end bad it was a gut feeling,
“Now, Eunhyuk why don’t you tell Donghae who you really are,” Hankyung pulled his gun out of it’s holster.
“Hyukkie, what does he mean?” Donghae turned to the older man, his eyes large and questioning.
“Hae, I tried to tell you,” Hyukjae grabbed Donghae’s arm, he was going to force Donghae to understand and to listen.
“He is a member of Siwon’s gang, Lee Hyukjae, more specifically the man that killed your family.” Hankyung spoke coldly sending glares piercing through both Siwon and Hyukjae.
“No,” Donghae whispered turning to Hyukjae, “H-he’s lying right hyuk?” it was more of a plead than a question.
“Hae, you don’t understand-” Hyukjae began to explain, Donghae forcefully removed Hyukjae’s hands from his arms.
“Let go you murderer!” Donghae cried, slapping Hyukjae across the face, “I trusted you.” Donghae began to step back from Hyukjae. “I loved you!” Donghae screamed.
“Hae, I didn’t know they were your family!”
“That doesn’t make it any better!” Donghae back up until he was at Hankyung’s side.
“Stop this!” Siwon shouted, earning all eyes on him. “Leave Hyukjae alone. What happened that night wasn’t his fault. It was members of Heechul’s gang! And Hankyung if you have a problem with me deal with me!”
“Why did you send him in? Find out my weaknesses.” Hankyung demanded.
“I had to, you wouldn’t let me see you. I didn’t know where you were!” Siwon defended.
“Oh cause you cared so much about me! So much you’d give the ring I gave you to Heechul!”
“What? I’ve never let that ring go once! Stop making accusations! I’m not like him, so stop comparing me to him!” Siwon screamed as frustration overwhelmed him.
“You are worse than him. At least he would have told me the truth.” Hankyung hissed.
“I’ll show you-” Siwon reached into his jacket and Hankyung pulled the trigger. A perfect shot to the forehead sending Siwon falling to the ground.
“Are you crazy?!” Hyukjae growled sliding onto the rough tar, scooping his leader up in his arms, he knew it was over but he prayed it wasn’t. His breath became erratic as he felt Siwon’s warm blood cover his hands.
Hankyung stood still his arm still outstretched but his face was towards the ground.
“Donghae what are you doing?” Hyukjae looked up at his approaching lover.
“Killing a stranger,” Donghae whispered between tears.
“Hae, please don’t do this! I never meant to hurt you, I lo-” A second gun shot this time to the throat. Making crimson poor out of the wound as Hyukjae drowned on his own blood.
“I-I’m just like him!” Donghae cried, he had become what he hated just another killer no better than the man who killed his family.
When the bodies were found, a silver chain and ring was found clenched in Siwon’s hand and a written description of that happened the night of Donghae’s family’s death was found in Hyukjae’s pocket. Written on the bottom was an apology one that would go unread by the person it was meant for.
