Wanna see something completely hysterical?

Come to Garfield, NJ tomorrow and watch me attempt to play softball!!

Those who know me very well will understand that I don't have an athletic bone in my body. Yet, I'm still being recruited for the softball team at work. It's co-ed and the rules require that you have at least 3 women playing in a game. I AM WOMAN!

What time? I have class tomorrow and then a meeting with the newspaper after that, so I seriously doubt I'll make it, but let me know what time and where. Hopefully I can get there at some point.

I'll e-mail you the details.
Don't worry- you may have plenty more chances this season. We're sadly lacking in the female-player department. Not that my softball (in)abilities will provide any boost to morale (or to our winning stats) but hey, at least I am trying. HAHA

Hey, I'll never forget the band softball game junior year, where Dave Duran hit what we all thought was going to be a home run, until Rob Gavin somehow managed to catch the ball way out in the outfield. Dave, of course, dropped the bat and chased Rob down, but that's another story. But let that be a lesson to you to be careful who to get out.

I really don't remember this... but I can picture it. Rob Gavin must have prayed for a miracle because he is about as athletic as I am.

Well good luck with the game. The main thing is that you have fun. At least that's what everyone tells me when I attempt to play any kind of sport. They're probably just trying to make me feel better because I suck at all sports!

They kept telling me "We just need a body so we don't have to forfeit". There is no sugar coating it from my co-workers. They must know that I will never, ever make contact with the ball. My only hope of making it on base is that they walk the guy before me (girls get automatic walks, so that the pitcher can't walk a guy to *hopefully* strike out a girl after)

Thank god I quit smoking... maybe I'll actually be able to run!

Ah, that's right, smoke free = not getting winded while walking/running. I can't even climb a flight of stairs anymore without gasping for breath and feeling like I'm dying. I really need to set a damn date and just DO IT. I can't stand it anymore.

That's what I did... set a date and stuck to it. Of course, I've quit before but this time I really meant it. You just have to be 100% ready.

GAME TIME IS 6:15 notevenu April 27 2005, 21:07:57 UTC
(This is if you're coming from Hackensack)

Take Route 46 West to the Outwater Lane Exit (Just Past Lodi).

At the Stop Sign at the end of the ramp, make a left onto Outwater Lane.

Take Outwater Lane to the Light at Midland Avenue, make a left onto Midland Avenue.

Make left on to Elizabeth Street (there is an ice cream shop on one corner and a banquet hall on the other). Go up the hill and you will see the fields on your left hand side, make a left onto Gaston and find a parking spot. Field #2 will be on your left.
