[Ellen]

After spending most of the day at the dance studio, Lily had returned to the Compound to shower, change and eat before she found herself standing on the boardwalk, her gaze drifting from the Hub, back to the Compound and then down the path in the direction of the Winchester. It wasn't often she felt at a loss for what to do, her time most often ( Read more... )

The last night she'd been here, things had gone slightly more different than she'd originally planned. Ellen isn't one to complain, though, not when it gives her the ability to forget about things like David, the memories that haunt her during the day without the power of sex or alcohol to blur them. Unlike last time, she's not wearing the infamous black dress, the one that landed her so many compliments, but that's probably because she hasn't found anything like it in the clothes box since. Tonight, she's dressed more casually, a pair of khaki shorts and a spaghetti-strap blouse, crimson silk stark against her slightly tanned skin ( ... )

It's as much of an invitation as Lily needs and she picks up her drink off the bar, then weaves around the few people standing between them to come to a stop near the woman whose gaze she's met. Her hair is still a little damp and she sets her drink down on the bar to twist it up before she fishes an elastic out of her pocket to secure it into a bun ( ... )

She's definitely a dancer if her first instinct is to secure her hair up like that, in a bun so precise and yet so effortless that it doesn't even look like she's done much to get it to look that way - which she hasn't, at least not this time, and Ellen's witnessed it for herself.

She looks down into the contents of her drink when the other woman speaks and shrugs one shoulder, lifting the glass to her lips and taking a brief sniff before she sips just enough to wet her lips. "It's not terrible, but it does the job, and it's definitely strong. I'm trying to pace myself tonight," she adds. "Last week, things got a little interesting after one too many martinis."

Lily can't help her smile at that, unable to count the number of times things have gotten a little interesting -- both here and back home -- after a few drinks. Or a few pills. Whatever the case, she understands that moment when one finds themselves in a situation they hadn't necessarily intended on being in when they'd set out that evening. As far as her experience goes, that isn't always a bad thing. If not for situations like that, she likely wouldn't have met Gwaine at all, and she's certain that Nina would never have gone home with her if the rave hadn't happened.

"The good thing about the island is that there's nowhere to be in the morning, so you can nurse that hangover for as long as you need," she points out, then offers her hand. "I'm Lily."
