more similar than you might imagine...notforseriousSeptember 16 2005, 01:19:59 UTC
tell nicholas that i said hi, for starters. second, while he may not have been pushing for as long, that's pretty rough for a first grader - so i will give him props. my funny labor story (well, at the time *nothing* was funny) but i kept getting really hot during contractions and i would get all wild and start telling tom to get me a cold, wet wash cloth. and by the time he actually got it to me, i was done with the contraction and i was freezing, so i would throw it back at him and ask for more blankets. he kept running back and forth and i kept being crazy and mad at him for being so slow. not as funny as a young child w/ constipation, but it's all i got.
thank you for your enthusiastic welcome, marlie thanks you. as do i.
but quick question, i thought you were teaching in like guam or something. do they say "wipe" and "butt" in guam? i would have expected something more romantic and mysterious sounding. not that i am at all dissappointed in your story. while unrelated, it was excellent.

lol - not guam, argentina. but i teach in an english-speaking school, so the kids know how to say "wipe" and "butt" , at least most of them do. the rest who aren't so skilled with the english language say those things in their mother tongue (usually spanish or korean). but nicholas is an american, so he knows very well how to say "wipe" and "butt". a little too well if you ask me.
you all should come visit. or come teach...? hmmm, interesting thought, eh? We have great medical coverage down here... perfect for havin' babies, as you two seem so fond of doing...

oh and p.s. - i busted out the apenglapish the other day when i was trying to talk without the little argentines being able to understand me. I was talking to a canadian, and evidently, there's a canadian version where they add like "oop" or "eh" or something dorky and canadian. who knew?
hope you and tom are doing great and lovin' every minute of that new-baby smell!
