On second thoughts, the dying snail would be faster. Assuming the snail to at the stage of ZOMG-SO-DED-AND-DRY, the snail shrivels up (or a bird eats the fleshy part), the snail shell (and maybe contents) will be pulled down the hill by our favourite force, GRAVITY. It rolls down the hill, picking up its speed as it goes and beats the optus ZOMGSOBADLY.

Acutally, following your theory, Optus *would* be faster, or rather, ahead, because since it sucks, it wouldn't fall due to gravitity. So you might be right!

(and I might have just made the worst "sucks" pun in the history of blogging.)
