The Utroms are to nice

The Grey's might. I've never met a Gray but the do have a rep for doing this kinda thing.

The Triceraton would, if they're from before we kicked their shells, and they have mind probe of some kind...

And there's the Federation, but I'm not sure they count they're from space but most of them are human from what I saw.

You got any more suggestions?

Well, there's Yeerks, which are mind-controlling evil brain slugs with a penchant for world domination. They might be the culprits, but they're not big on letting people go. And the time frame is all wrong.

Then there's the Hork-Bajir which are seven foot dinosaurs covered in knives that eat bark, but most of them are too dopey for this.

The Taxxons are actually pretty decent people for freakishly yellow centipede worms with chainsaws for teeth but they'd just eat you because they eat everything. So it's probably not them either.

Oh, and the Andalites, but they're a bit too lofty and prideful for this sort of thing as a species.

Unless someone had cinnamon buns on them and they ran out after two days.
