FASCISM?!?!?! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?!?!?

Okay! I am not a fascist, and that is a completely unrelated accusation that is both logical fallacy and related to an Emerson text in paragraph 28: "If a man rejects one standard set by society, society rejects him as though he had rejected all standards". Well, I'm a little too lazy to find the direct quote and / or the real paragraph number, but ( Read more... )

And it just took me 45 minutes to read that entry. Sounds like a lot's going on that i would love to be part of and experience first hand at Mason, the high school that i will never know... But anyway, those of you who read my previous comment, i realize that this entry is even longer, but it's friday night and i'm bored. One thing i did notice is I am saying that it is a great probability that none of us (middle class, intelligent, sheltered whites with promising futures) are in virtually no danger of being targeted by the Patriot Act. The double negative implies that the people yelling at you were correct about your views, but i know it's not what you meant to say.

Saying that we wont have any personal harm is irrevelent, just cause I 'personally' wont be put into jail has nothing to do with my being worried or "paranoid" about it. I worry about other people; I worry about the USA going down the tubes; I think about moving to Cuba; and I worry about people like you, who ignoring things just because they have no personal effect. Just cause you don't have AIDS, and don't live in a 3rd world country doesn't mean you shouldn't be worried even so paranoid about it as to protect yourself from it.

Graham, I understand where you're coming from, and that conclusion could be drawn, I guess, from this. But that's not what I meant. You heard me at Cbass' that I still think its bad and wrong, and I'm angry that America would do that (like I said, it undoes everything America stands for), I just don't worry about it. That's all I said. Nothing more ( ... )

Just because the patriot may or may not affect us is not the point. The point is the patriot act violates our rights, and should never have been passed. The people that this does affect is what we should be worrying about, these people's rights are being violated. Defending this act is an act of facism. Im not saying that ur a facist jason, just that it doesnt matter whether we are affected by the patriot act or not. It is still a horrible act of our legislature and should be torn down in any way possible.
