[Though she had regained some of her more practical skills a while ago, she had no really tried using them. Practice was important, especially with spell cards. She had yet to regain her simpler ones though, so keeping up on the ones she had was important. In order to do this she chose to utilize an open space in the evening. A place ( Read more... )

More than I care to contemplate.

So you have had quite the turn around I assume. Were you close to all of them?

Some more than others, but in general, yes, I have been close to my town-assigned associates.

That's very admirable of you, to strike up a relationship with them.

I've had a brother, a sister, three dads and one mom. All of them have been droned except the one dad.

[there's a reason why Kaz likes spending his evenings out of the house. everything about being cooped up surrounded by false memories and mementos of a family that was never his to begin with is depressing enough without the company of the drones around to make things worse, so he's resolved to find more productive ways to spend his time. the rec center is as good a place as any to start with; at the very least, it's a small comfort that he can still keep up with his training even here.

it's a pleasant evening much like all the others he's experienced thus far in Mayfield. as he goes on his way, he catches sight of a small shape hovering several feet in the air, surrounded by colorful little orbs of light.

suddenly, it doesn't seem like such a nice night to be out after all.]

...The hell?

[It all lasts several minutes until Eiki notices someone is watching and stops. If she wasn't mistaken it looked like her new husband. Might as well talk to him. She floats over and lands in front of him, with hardly a care.]

If that surprises you, you will find quite a bit difficult to take in.

[of course - "Eiki", he presumes. he's seen her from the pictures around the house, but then supposes that she must hate being in it as much as he does. he relaxes when she drops in front of him.]

I like to think I'm doing a good job with what I've seen so far. It's not every day you see someone fly.

[a beat]

How'd you do that?

That would depend on where you are from, though I suppose for most that is true.

[She smiles a little.]

Through will, at least that is the easiest explanation. It is a natural ability.

[there's a thoughtful hum, and then:] Two mothers, two fathers and four or five other siblings have come and gone. It becomes difficult to keep track of them after the first year.

Quite a large number, how long have you been here?

One year and eight months, give or take a few days.

Quite a time, it's understandable to have such turnover with that.
