kitchen gadgetry opinions?

Should I get a Crock Pot? I've never had one before, but in this Texas summer heat I loathe to use the oven for anything during the day, and I'm starting to get kind of sick of sandwiches and microwave stuff. A Crock Pot seems like it wouldn't heat the kitchen up as bad as the oven or stove top, y/n?

I LOVE my crock pot. I use it much more in the winter than in the summer, but that's only because I eat a ton of sandwiches and salads in the summer.

I usually live on sandwiches, but for some reason I'm randomly craving beef stew in the middle of July. It's probably the pregnancy.

Do they put off a lot of heat?

Not really. I mean, the outside is hot. But the whole kitchen isn't hot!

I say go for it. I wish I had a crock pot to make stews in Sweden. I've made corn beef, cabbage, and potatoes in one before.
