Title: Phone Call (part 1)
Rating: PG (parts rated separately)
Paring: Yejun x Jinon
Length: 1569 words.
Author's Note: I got the prompt "Yejun/Jinon “Phone Call”" from a generator and this is what I came up with. It's supposed to be a part 1/? but I don't know where I want to go with it or what I want to do with it, so if you read this and have suggestions, feel free to pm me or something, I'm open ^^ It might be a while before there's a part 2, but I'll be sure to make links and such.

It started with a phone call.

“Hello?”
“Is this Jinchul-sshi?”
“It is, who is this?”
Yejun’s hand was shaking. He’d never done this sort of thing before.
“My name is Shim Yejun. A friend of mine gave me your number...” His voice was soft, obviously nervous. “He said... he thought you and I would get along...” he muttered, feeling as though his words weren’t even stringing together properly.
“Oh! Younghak-ah, right? He mentioned you.” The other male’s voice was a little reassuring at least, knowing that he wasn’t completely creeped out by Yejun calling him like this.
“Yeah... he gave me the number about a week ago. I asked him to just introduce us, but he said he didn’t want to play matchmaker anymore than that.” A soft laugh fell from his lips and it was nice to hear one returned through the phone as well.
"Honestly I'm surprised he even did that much, but he basically told me he had a friend who was single who I might get along with. So I don't know any more than you," Jinchul chuckled. Yejun smiled into the phone. He was already liking this guy. He didn't say anything else before the male on the other end spoke again. "So what say you to meeting and finding out if he was right?"
Yejun let his smile grow a bit wider, and he nodded before he realized Jinchul couldn't see him. "I think that sounds like a good idea." He paused for a moment before continuing. "I'm free Friday evening."
"I was just going to say that," Yejun heard ring through the phone and another small laugh fell from his lips. "I can pick you up; you're Younghak's roommate right?"
Once again Yejun nodded before he realized he was on the phone. "I am."
"At six. Is that okay?"
"Perfect."
"I'll see you then." Yejun could hear the smile in the other male's voice and he hoped it was obvious in his own as well as he responded.
"I can't wait."

“Calm down.”
Yejun couldn’t. No matter how many times his roommate repeated those words, he still continued to pace the living room of their apartment.
“Yejun.” Younghak’s voice was firm, though not harsh as his hand grabbed the younger male’s arm. “Sit down. I promise everything will go fine.”
Yejun caught his friend’s gaze and took in a deep sigh before flopping on the couch, his head resting in Younghak’s lap. “I’ve never been on a date before, you know that,” he muttered, his eyes closing as he tried hard to calm himself down despite the pounding of his heart against his chest.
“Don’t think of it as a date, then. Think of it as... going out to dinner. With someone you’ve never met...”
Yejun stared at him. “That doesn’t help.”
“...I know.”
As soon as those words were said, both of their attention was called to the door as they heard a knock. “That’s him...” Yejun groaned, turning into Younghak and curling into a ball.
“Go answer it!” Yejun didn’t have time to complain anymore since he soon found himself on the floor, pushed off the couch by his roommate. He pouted up at the other male, but Younghak offered no sympathy, so he simply sighed again and made his way to the door with another deep breath. With his fingers clutched tightly around the cool metal handle, he opened the door, greeted by a tall man, though still slightly shorter than himself, with dark, close-cut hair, and a strong jaw. He was dressed casually, but still nice, and Yejun gave him a small, nervous, smile.
“Jinchul-sshi?” he asked, his voice almost failing him, much to his embarrassment. The other male nodded.
“Yejun-sshi, then?” A smile spread across Jinchul’s lips as well. A beautiful smile, Yejun couldn’t help but notice. He nodded in response, turning as he noticed Jinchul’s gaze shift behind him. He took another deep breath, feeling Younghak’s hand on his upper back.
“Take care of him,” he heard his roommate say, then making a face at him, sending an elbow playfully back into his side, but Younghak only laughed and pushed his head in return before walking away to go into the bedroom.
“Should we go then?” Yejun said, quickly changing the subject as he stepped out of the apartment, making sure he had his wallet in his back pocket before closing the door.

“We’ve known each other for a while,” Yejun said softly, his glass of water pressed gently to his bottom lip as he answered Jinchul’s question before taking a small sip of water. “Since the last year of middle school.” He could never remember the day he’d met Younghak since it seemed like they’d known each other forever, quite honestly, he really only knew that it seemed he’d come into his life at just the right time. But that was another story completely. “How long have you known each other?”
Jinchul was in the middle of a bite of his food as the question left Yejun’s lips, so he waited for the answer by taking a small pancake from their appetizers. “Almost a year now,” he finally replied with a small laugh. “We met in a class during my last semester of college. We had a project together,” he explained and Yejun just nodded, shoving a piece of kimchi into his mouth. It seemed strange to him that Younghak wouldn’t have introduced him, but then again, it was Younghak and he knew the other wasn’t really into bringing his friends to the apartment or anything.
“So what’re you doing now that you’re out?” Yejun asked after a slightly awkward moment of silence, that was actually his fault. He was always slightly awkward about these things. Jinchul only shrugged, a hint of a smile creeping onto his lips as he shoved another piece of his food into his mouth. A chuckle fell from Yejun’s lips and he shook his head, daring to kick the other male gently under the table, that thankfully he didn’t mind. Instead, he laughed.
“I’m just working for a company. I was studying business after all,” he grinned and there was that smile again. The one Yejun had heard on the phone, the one that had greeted him at the door. He could already tell he wanted to see this man again.

With his hands shoved in the pockets of his jacket, Yejun walked next to Jinchul as they made their way back to his apartment. Although they had taken Jinchul’s car, they’d ended up parking it at a park and just going for a walk. It was chilly, but it didn’t seem to bother either of them as they continued to talk just as they had been in the restaurant. Yejun found it easy to talk to this man, just as he had always found it easy to talk to his roommate. The atmosphere was relaxed and the silences had quickly become not awkward.
As soon as they reached the door of his apartment, he turned to Jinchul, unable to contain the smile on his lips. “I had a good time tonight,” he muttered, only then realizing that the other male had said the exact same thing just then. A laughed fell from his lips, shaking his head slightly as his cheeks turned a soft red color.
“I really did,” Jinchul spoke and Yejun lifted his gaze to him again.
“I did too. I’d... like to do it again. Maybe next week?” he asked, his heart once again beating hard in his chest as it had been the first time he’d talked to Jinchul on the phone.
“Next week. Same time?”
Yejun nodded. “Sounds good.” He paused for a moment, biting the inside of his lip, then turning his gaze away, reaching for the door handle. “I’ll see you then.” He began to turn the handle, then stopped and turned back to Jinchul before he could say anything. “And... maybe I’ll... call you before then,” he smiled, excited when he received one in return.
“That is definitely okay with me.”
Yejun bowed slightly to the older male, then made his way into the apartment with a wave and a “Good night.”
The apartment was dark, so he quietly removed his shoes and jacket, then made his way to the bedroom, slipping out of his clothes and surprising himself as he managed to pull on his pajamas without making much noise.
“How was it?” Younghak’s voice suddenly cut through the darkness of their bedroom like a knife and Yejun couldn’t help but jump, his hand going to his chest like was pounding but for a completely different reason from before.
“Ugh, I didn’t know you were awake, you scared me,” Yejun laughed and climbed into his bed next to his roommate.
“Sorry, I actually was asleep, but heard you come in the front door,” Younghak muttered, the sleep now obvious in his voice.
“It was good, though,” Yejun chuckled, though it was followed by a small yawn. “Really good. Thank you.” Yejun heard Younghak’s soft laugh through the darkness, but if he replied after that, he wasn’t sure because the next thing he remembered was waking up the next morning as the sun hit his face through the window he’d forgotten to close the curtains over the night before.
