Green website?

Jan 05, 2008 16:59

I'm looking to get a website set up for the Friends of the Earth group that I'm co-ordinating.

I want to buy a website from a company that uses renewable energy (preferably UK based) and I wondered if anyone has experience of using such a thing. If you do, please let me have the details?

Could try those? Though it's going to be pretty difficult to prove a host is using renewable energy for hosting. Then you've got the domains, which exist everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Then there's the various servers, backups etc. Are those using it too.

They are a family run company based in the UK, though they use a data centre in the US. The US servers are directly powered by renewables and the UK premises by bought green power, though they do have plans/dreams to build a UK based Data Centre with direct renewable power. They are also vegetarian society registered.

If you want help with the site to put on the space - there is me, or for some-one more established in content managed websites, Spirit Quest http://www.spiritquest.co.uk/ - who, among others, hosts the vegan society website via the above company.

Heh, things are ok, on average! Really must get around/ the headspace to catch up on some blogging!

Having fun at the moment working on this website for a friend's mum.

Random question: the re-usable greetings cards that you make - do you sell them? If so, for how much? I'd be interested in buying a few.
