I keep hearing about "Valentines Day". Is it a religious holiday here?

Not a particularly religious holiday so much as people follow it religiously.

I see. What is it, exactly?

It's hard to describe in a sentence, I think.

But I suppose it's a holiday for expressing one's love and gratitude towards their loved ones.

...Shouldn't one do that every day?

Yes, to those for which it is appropriate, or those that choose to celebrate. But it is less religious than it is an opportunity for an over-indulgence in back room rendez-vous's.

...A holiday for reproduction?

That is a common consequence, though it is originally for some saint or another. Saint-Valentin is a simple conclusion, but I recall that the holiday is for more than one of them.

It's named after a saint! Three of them, actually!

Three saints...? So is it religious?

I'm not really sure! Humans use it to further capitalism.

Capitalism... I didn't realize someone would use a holiday for something such at that.

It was originally a day to celebrate three different martyred saints. It has become a modern day celebration of 'love', although the commercial idea of 'love' seems to have been corrupted to mean 'the exchange of chocolates, dinner, and jewelry for sexual favors'.

This is not always the case, but that is the most prevalent form of it, as Western influence spreads.

So, then, a holiday for...

...I suppose everyone has their different take on it. So far, I've heard its about capitalism, reproduction, and love for friends and families... and now I am hearing prostitution.

It was originally about love. But humanity forgot what that actually meant centuries ago.

...Now that... is understandable. Do you celebrate it yourself, Naoya?

I was unaware it was such a wonderful holiday. So far I have heard otherwise.

Don't listen to them, they're obviously unable to see the beauty in it!
