JSP is pretty sweet. That's what I developed in the last couple summers at IBM.
Not that I've ever done this, ;-) but if you can find something code related to do that perhaps involves a new language, you can always work on that and it looks like you're working.
I'm pretty sure that all CIF runs is apache with PHP and CGI I think. We have a hard enough time keeping that up and stable without people bogging Roundtable down with tomcat.
Making it look like I'm working isn't generally a problem as long as it's on the computer. They don't even seem to care what I'm doing because my output is so fast in their opinion. I'm just trying to figure out how to waste/spend my time. I might try and pick up python or perl, they've been on my list of things to learn for a while now.
