lily-lovely was talking about
titles and as livejournal doesn't let me post a comment currently, I'll make an entry of it.
For my drabbles I either go with an oblique description what it is about or a quote from a song or poem, mostly the second. Very rarely the title is there before the story. And sometimes I really like the completely obvious titles.
I have quite a few drabbles where the title doesn't exactly fit, but I won't change them. Once I post something I'm pretty much done with it, even if I cringe when I read it again.
My favourites obliques are Love, Duty and the Preparation of Food by Dry Heat Acting by Convection and Elegance As Defined By Thread Count
Quotes I have a lot, like That's why God made the movies or Till things are brighter, which is even directly referenced in the drabble. I also like to make them obscure like Expert Timing.
And sometimes I go for the completely matter-of-fact like When Xander Harris was a girl..., which was the only thing I could call it. Of course the individual ficlets that make up the story are always continuations of the title sentence in the same matter of fact vein.
So that's my kind of titling.
