I want to swap Broadband providers. Orange/Wanadoo/whatever they are calling themselves this week have finally fucked me off too much. Any recommendations? I don't need to be doing anything fancy.
I've been using Metronet since I moved to Kent and it's been absolutely great. We haven't had any service interruptions, customer service is good (and in the UK!), it's on a 1-month rolling contract (so you're not tied in for a year) and it's cheap! We also got a free upgrade when they upped our line speed.
Thanks for this, Babs - I've had a quick look & it looks good. I need to read through it proper ('cos they keep using words I don't know, lol) - I may be back for more information ;)
I has Telewest when I was at uni and they really annoyed me 'cause the modem was useless and the connection was always dodgy. So, I wouldn't recommend them!
Down at my Dad's we have UKOnline who seem to be very good and reliable, and have also heard good things about TalkTalk (but you need their phone line for that which is an arse).
I did have wanadoo/Orange, but after 3 weeks of no service I cancelled it as I was not willing to pay for a service they were not providing. I've heard rumours that they did this on purpose for a whole bunch of people. And forget Tiscali - I had their dial up, and it never picked up so yah boo sucks to them.
I have BT, which is OK, but in installing their "pop up blockers" it's totally f***ed things up. I now get the occasional pop up ad, even though both BT and Norton swear BLIND that the blockers are on. See also Caffcaff's ongoing saga over her BT access
Interesting.... Mine packed up at more or less the same time.
By the way, from reading your posts, realised that we were in the same workshop and releasing walk at the unconvention... (I'm in a pink sleeveless top at the edge of a couple of your pics.) Small world.
