Strength is an interesting concept.

Is it mental or physical...and is it achievable in a place like Discedo?

will be beefy, fighting monsters, fighting inner demons, c: adrian andrews, ic, monsters are scary, question time, as subtle as a knife

In this context the skirmish is a mock war. No one can validate their existence through scavenging or slaughtering witless beasts. War is much more intense.
