I have been inside the apartment for a week. While I understand that it's safer in here than it's out there, it makes me feel somewhat helpless. I have no magical powers, no special skills, nothing that can be of assistance in such a situation. I wish there was something I could do...I feel trapped. Useless

The most important thing is that there's a bunch of big spiky things crawling around the streets. Otherwise, I think we're fine as long as we stay out of their way.

'Spiky things'? What do they do?

They're pretty mean, glaring and shooting needles at you! They popped up at around the same time this whole thing started.

They sound dangerous. Are they the ones that have been killing people?

Maybe some that fought them... I think it's between those, the buildings collapsing, or the lasers that were raining from the sky earlier.
