And so it came to be that a blind red-headed girl wearing a mismatched outfit of a sweater, sweatpants, an oversized t-shirt and socks came a-knocking on Claudia's door. With a pitiful look on her face.
"Claudia?" she called out as tapped her cane on the floor. "You there?"
Claudia didn't recognize that voice at all -- but had been here long enough to know that that didn't mean anything. She hopped up, dodging around the larger metal bits of sewing machine on the floor, and opened the door.
". . . You're not going to claim I'm your mother, are you?"
Claudia relaxed with a smile and pushed the door the rest of the way open. "Oh, is that all. Come on in." She looked at all the stuff on the floor and winced. "Uh, gimme a sec. There's . . . stuff."
