It's both disheartening and disappointing to see the media hysteria over the recent high-profile suicides of Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade. I recognize that in the past societies needed to find a way to perpetuate the species, and stigmatizing suicide was one way to accomplish that goal. But that was then and this is now. I was just thinking this exact thing earlier today. Not wanting to live doesn't make a person mentally ill. Especially in the world as it is right now.
