I seem to have unfortunately reneged on some promises I have made. My deepest apologies - I have been so utterly enthralled with the state of things that I've only just regained my senses now that things are so sunny and clear

Yes. Hopefully this state will last for a while. It's... nice to see the city in high spirits, even if half the population is ignoring you.

Think of it as being blind to our existence.

And they're all gonna die horribly!

I wonder if this ... appearance shift will last long enough for us to watch them die or not.

I always do to love a spectator show.

Though admittedly I enjoyed it before the shift as well.

I didn't really have time to pay attention to it! But what I saw was impressively rotten.

If only I hadn't been so busy trying not to die, maybe I could've taken in some of the sights.

Be they actual spirits or not, their behavior is like some sorts of ghosts, no? Those that are simply caught in time and do not realize they share space with others.
