Really, if vampires must drink blood, I don't think it's terribly safe to get us used to drinking human blood. Wouldn't it make more sense to at least have us drink something that tasted...I don't know, like duck blood?

Well, really it seems to be a blanket term for anyone on the Barge who feeds on blood. I actually have a combination of human and vampire bat DNA.

How is that possible?

I do not wish to dine upon the flavour of birds.

Then what do you wish to dine on?

Human is to my taste.

I care not, so much now, where or how it comes to me.

Human? And you're a warden? I have to wonder what sort of ethics we are to be taught here.

Human blood. The warden administration makes another fantastic decision.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Using human blood sets a poor precedent. Before we know it, being taken to zero will be code for spending a week in prison getting drained to feed the vampires.

And everyone knows what ends up happening to animals who get a taste for human blood in the real world.

Bang bang. You put the dog down, correct?

Correct. Which is why I think it would be best for all involved if the blood didn't taste so human.

I do not know if there is anyone else from the 30th century by Terran reckoning here, but perhaps someone else from a technologically advanced era might be able to help with this matter?

I know that in order to accomodate the varying physiologies of my galaxy's inhabitants, pseudo-blood substitutes were made. They had the chemical compositions of plasma and hemoglobin, but did not have DNA so as not to activate the recipient's immune system.

Could not something similar be synthesized? Since this substance was never part of a living being, then it should not count as the sin of harming life for its blood.

That sounds like a very good idea. I'll ask about it, and maybe I can find out how I can continue to do something of the sort when I'm gone.

I am not certain that the resources would be available in your era. Perhaps you could be changed, instead? I was altered by my rebirth here...

Sorry, man. I'm kind of all over your journal today. :/ failedcreator August 3 2010, 00:30:21 UTC
You are permitted to drink the blood of men?

It's okay! I like having all your posts, they're pretty! notonedrop August 3 2010, 00:32:30 UTC
That is what they feed us in the kitchens, I can tell by the taste.

When I think this place can sink no lower, it manages to do so.

I'm afraid so. I'd find it better if I absolutely must drink blood to be fed the blood of a bird or livestock of some sort.
