On being a teacher

I just finished my fifth week of student teaching, and I still have around nine more weeks to go.  Overall, it’s an enjoyable experience, despite the notable handicap of not being paid to do the same job that my teacher does to make $600 a week.  I teach all of his classes, grade papers, make lessons, and run the class as if he wasn’t even there.

I get $80 a day which works out to $400 a week if I work all five days. In addition to that if I work at a high school or middle school and the main office asks me to fill in for an additional classroom during a prep our they have to shell out about $13.33 for that hour because it's considered extra. Good times.
