Online dating vs. my concept of reality

I’ve been bored lately, so I decided to try something new.  Knowing in advance of how dumb it is, I decided to partake in an online dating service.  I won’t mention which one it is, but I must say I found it an appalling waste of time.  All the clichés are true.  Nobody is who they say they are in their profile, and the service will try to cheat ( Read more... )

I don't think real people talk like that AT ALL...clearly a fake. And clearly not someone from Detroit.

In searching, I discovered (after I posted this) that the picture on that fake profile that messaged me appears on another completely different profile that I found from Cleveland, Ohio when I expanded my search to 100 miles instead of 50. I tried to report this discovery, but I think you have to be a paid member to make that kind of accusation. I've come to the conclusion that any profile that shows a girl less than 200 pounds is probably a fake profile!

That could be any number of online dating services. I've always stuck to OKCupid, though. Entirely free. You can pay to get ads removed, but sending/receiving messages is free.
