I won't lie, I loooooooooove NIN's Year Zero album for CV!Miranda and Bookman because the post-apocalyptic theme fits them both so well >3< This song especially works well with Bookman working for the Noah, and how he knows that it's the "right" thing insofar as his duty goes, but not insofar as KEEPING THE REST OF THE WORLD ALIVE goes. It's my personal theme for him, and his struggle with trying to reconcile duty and his desire to have a heart again/work with the Order again.

HE IS SO FUCKING SCARED OF ANY KIND OF COMMITMENT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. So I think that's why it works, so long as you ignore the "marriage" parts |D

It also starkly, perfectly contrasts the differing view of their relationship that they had, with Miranda's being decidedly more optimistic and open, and Bookman's being much more guarded and self-defeating. There's also a lot of regret here about him not having done enough with/for her when he had the chance.
