[Well, there’s definitely some kind of fiddling going on here from someone who doesn’t seem to know how to operate these things… but hey, it focused eventually, right? Well, anyway, right now there’s a rather imposing looking man standing on Route 29, who seem completely unfazed by by both the situation at hand and the fact that it is snowing ( Read more... )

[ ... Oh man... he's not sure how he feels about this... 'cause the Fuhrer technically doesn't have any authority here. But at the same time, he's the Fuhrer...

And he's a little creepy sometimes... ]

[ .... How to start this... Maes isn't sure who you've spoken to, Bradley, so he doesn't really know if he'd be able to give you any new information...

But not responding would seem kind of mean. Fuhrer deserves the same helping hand anyone else would receive. ]

[ But wait... how does one even go about saying that...? "Hey Fuhrer I've never really spoken to before, welcome to this strange new land. Btws, I told your son I would meet up with him to help him out. You want to join us?"

... that's awkward...

... How does one interact with the Fuhrer anyways? ]

[ Salute. ]

Fuhrer, Sir!

[ Awkward pause. ]

You've just arrived here?

[...oh.

Well, that narrows things down a bit. Given what happened, it was the most likely scenario, but-just... give him a moment...]

...Interesting to see you here, Lt. Colonel Hughes. As for your question-yes, I have.

I'm afraid I may not be able to provide much information, Sir. I've only just recently arrived, myself, and have not worked out all the details.

[ not unless you want to hear about the adventures of the Ace Alchemist Investigations team... ]

But... well, I will try to fill in as many blanks as I can.

exactly. notrueking December 22 2011, 19:14:32 UTC
I don't exactly care how much you know-I just want to know what you can tell me.

[in other words, tell him all about the investigations.]

[ ..... Fuhrer! So scary ._. ]

Sir! [ He's starting to wonder why he's talking like this. 'Cause technically... Bradley isn't in charge here. ]

This is a place called Johto. We are all unsure as to how, exactly, we've arrived here, but... it seems that this place takes people randomly from different worlds and puts them through the same beginning scenario. [ Relatively, anyways. We'll ignore the fact that Team Rocket exists right now. ] We seem to be pulled from different timelines, as well.

[ A pause, as he thinks of what else to say. ]

Ah, that bird over there, was it given to you by a professor? [ He's going to assume you're not a Team Rocket member Bradley... because... Hughes doesn't really wan to think about that. ]

....hmm... I see.

[So his initial guess seems to be wrong, at least when applied universally. That... sounds like it can be confusing, but he's not going to question the 'different worlds' or 'different timelines' thing given how bizarre this is already.]

There are no hard rules on when one can be pulled from, then? This all seems very strange, though I didn't expect things to make much sense after some woman who's at most twenty years younger than me started insisting that she was my mother.

[weird as shit, man.]

Yes, it was. Although, I can't exactly be sure if that man was a professor...

[...or if he was even properly human.]

No rules that we know of yet, sir. [ He laughs a little at the professor comment, but doesn't really want to dwell on that, because... Maes never met the professor... ]

The rumor is that there is a challenge. Defeat all the gym leaders in each city, and then some group called the Elite Four, and they'll allow you to go home. Otherwise, I am uncertain if there is another route home.

[he doesn't either, man. for the opposite reason.]

So these gym leaders and 'Elite Four' are in charge here, then? They must be quite powerful if they're capable of that sort of thing.

[sounds interesting. ...and not just because FIGHTING]

[ ... Sure, something like that... ]

I've heard the gym leaders are relatively straight-forward to defeat so long as you train your Pokemon well. There is a very basic leveling system, and they gain experience points for each Pokemon they defeat.

As far as I'm aware, though, nobody has ever challenged the Elite Four before.

...what do you mean by "leveling system?"

[what the fuck is a game mechanic.]

Hmmm. Well, I suppose it will be confirmed or denied at some point.

[ It's okay, it took Maes a while to get too. Good thing he's smart and catches on fast. ]

They've got a pretty organized system of showing you how strong your Pokemon are against others. Each Pokemon has a numerical 'level' which moves up with more experience it gains. A level 50, for example, would probably easily overtake a level 30. I believe the ones we are given to start out are all level 5.
