Good news and bad news, guys.
Janus just got back with Lance's reply. The good news is that the Growlithe that was foaming at the mouth wasn't really sick. They tested the foam and it's fire extinguisher. It won't be able to use any flame attacks for a little bit, but it's gonna be fine.
They've scoured the place from top to bottom, and as far as they can tell, absolutely nothing was taken. But someone did access data on the Porygon project, Giovanni and Team Rocket, even though the last two files hadn't been touched for a couple years before then. They're still testing all their potions and stuff to make sure nothing's been tampered with, but as of right now, it looks like whoever broke in was only after information.
The thing I don't get is why they were looking for that stuff. If it was a corporate spy, then they'd want to know how to make Full Restores or Master Balls, not Rocket stuff. Brock thought it might be a vigilante, but I'm not so sure. I don't think a person who would get back stolen Pokemon would want to rough up helpless scientists. Silph's employees aren't bad guys. It's still not something we can totally rule out, though.
I think there are two more likeliy possibilities. If it was just someone who wanted to know about Team Rocket, they could just Google it. Everyone in Kanto knows about the Rockets. They must have wanted something that not just anybody would know. I'm just not sure where Porygons fit into it, to be honest, but as far as I can tell, either it's a Rocket trying to find Giovanni... or it's Giovanni, trying to erase something that could get him found.
That's where the bad news comes in. Lance said there were witnesses, and they managed to get a good look at one of the people who snuck in. It was a man. Dark hair, 6'3", looked to be around 40 years old. I mean, that could describe a lot of people, but... I definitely know one guy who fits that description.
Mac. Any luck finding out where Giovanni's been? I tried looking at his journal, but there's almost nothing posted on there. I'm not sure if it's because he's been gone, or if he just doesn't use it. I put in a few phone calls to Johto, but nobody's heard anything about Rockets over there.
I also tried asking the Headmaster if he keeps records of employee days off and vacations. He does, apparently, but I'm not allowed to look at it. I'm not sure where to go from there. My head says it's probably the only way to know for sure where Giovanni's been -- no offense, Mac, but his word just isn't good enough for me. But breaking into the records or trying to bribe security or something... my gut says no. It's one thing to break into a Rocket hideout, but... it's different when it's the good guys. Do you think it's going too far?
Any suggestions, guys? I'm not sure what our next move should be.
