Tyler smiled, at one time he would have dreaded this question. At one time he would have disregarded it completely and tossed the clipboard aside. At one time he would written NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS. Today however, he picked up a pen and embraced it completely.
1. He pictured Tucker pouring over music and photographs and clothes trying to pick the perfect ingredients for his wedding day. When it came to people for the wedding, he had turned to Tyler and said, "Edi could be a grooms-woman!" Tyler agreed enthusiastically but was swept off his feet by the next thing his friend had said. "You can be my best man!"
2. Around Kat, he seemed to be a rambling idiot a lot of the time. One specific ramble stood out to him. He had been saying things that probably didn't make sense and she was smiling. He had admitted that he liked her and just wanted her to like him too. "I like you, Tyler. I'm still figuring you out, but I like you."
3. He thought of Jules, shy as a schoolboy, wanting to ask Edi on a "normal date", shy and nervous about finding something "normal" that Edi would enjoy. They had an entire conversation about the merits of making out in a movie theater. If that's not friendship, what is?
4. He thought of growth. He thought of how happy he was for Edi and Jules and Tucker and Norton. He thought of the respect that was well known between he and Jules. He thought of the fight he had with Edi and how they healed and still had hang gliding on their agenda. He thought about how once he never felt a thing and now Edi described him as one of the most caring people she knew. He thought of his short lived life as a cat owner. He thought about getting therapy finally and sticking with it.
5. He thought of Kat again, these days he was always thinking of Kat. He thought about her painting his nails black and her fondness for hair dye. He thought about her passion for books and preserving the written word. He thought of kissing her on the roof, how amazing and intense the connection he felt with her was. He thought of the question he would soon ask since Tucker gave him the okay. He wondered what the likelihood of her saying yes to traveling to Lanstonia to be his date to Tucker and Norton's wedding was. He felt that exciting nervousness he seemed to carry around her, the one that set his feelings for her apart from anyone else.
6. He thought of Clarke, sitting with Phil watching Family Feud and drinking beer. He finally had his brother in his life. It was weird and fun at the same time having a brother. They were so alike and so different at the same time. They both thought the other one was strange but wonderful and Tyler wouldn't trade it for anything.
7. He thought of Quinn. Beautiful, sad Quinn. He would do anything for her. She had a past he didn't understand and a future society couldn't embrace and though ultimately he could do nothing much for her, he would try and be there for her, because as he knew quite well, even the weirdest of the weird need friends.
8. He thought of Edi coming to him in the middle of the night and just climbing into his arms and sleeping there the entire night. She had a permanent place in his heart, and he in hers. She was family, real family. They had a lot left to do together.
