Fandom jail, Sunday

As many times as it had happened, you'd think he'd be used to it by now.

Some aspects were the same: sudden jolt; the feeling of emotions, all of them painful; the certainty that he wanted to die that was as strong as the certainty that he wasn't brave enough to do it.

And oh the memories. Those were always fun.

Angel sat there, alone in his cell, and felt no desire to leave it.

Roy led Aly down the stairs into the basement with the holding cells where Angel-Angelus-whatever-the-kid's-name was had been locked up for most of the week now.

"That Petrelli kid said that they did a spell on him that's supposed to have given him back his soul," he explained. "I was hoping you might be able to see if it really worked.

Aly raised an eyebrow. "Maybe," she said softly. "I can't see souls. Might be able to figure out a way. Magic should still be there at least."

"It's more than I can see at least," Roy replied, really hoping this would work as he wasn't quite sure what else he was supposed to do with a vampire. He stopped at Angel's cell, tilting his head as at least the prisoner looked... calmer.

"You've got someone to see you."

"Is anyone dead?" Angel asked, because to him that was the higher concern.

The question reminded him of the older police files he had read when he first took his position on Fandom.

"No," he replied evenly.

Angel nodded, and didn't say anything else. If nothing else, clearly the stoicism was back in place.

Aly stayed back, watching him carefully, sharpening her eyes to try to pick out the strands of a new spell amidst old magic. "Who are you?" she asked softly.

A core answer was Someone who wanted to throw up but he recognized the situation he was in and replied. "Angel."

The magic looked strange to her eyes, but she thought she caught the glint of a new binding net of some type in place. She refined her Sight again to focus in on it. "Did they give your soul back to you just now?" she asked.

"Feels like it," Angel said. Sad how he was getting used to that.

Aly nodded, the truth behind the answer clear enough as the shining new magic became clear. "Good to hear," she said.

She turned to Roy. "Looks like they managed it."

Roy hesitated for a moment as it almost felt too easy, but if everything he'd heard during the week and the records he read were right... He reached into his pocket for the key and unlocked the cell.

"Apparently you're good to go then," he remarked, unable to not feel at least a bit skeptical, but then it wouldn't be the first thing in Fandom that did that.

Angel stared at the door for a long time. Anyone thinking he was pondering the idea of never leaving would be correct in their assumption.

But there was nothing to do but face the aftermath of what he'd done. So he walked out.

"Thank you," he said, not looking at either of them, but meaning it for both.

"I'd prefer not to have to see that guy again," Roy couldn't help but remark.

"Makes two of us."

Truth was apparent there too, and Aly couldn't help but feel a bit of relief as her hand eased off the knife hilt she'd almost pulled.

"Good thing too," she said quietly. She glanced up the stairs. "You have people who want to see you now, I'm guessing."

"With and without torches," Angel guessed, mostly to himself. He went to go and face the music.

[Aaaaaaaaaand Angelus and his plot have left the building! Also Fandom. Because scheduling huge plots during the holidays is INSANE. Preplayed with tricksy_spy and light_a_spark. NFI, OOC A-OK]
