This "cooking" thing is so much harder than I'd orginally estimated. I simply don't understand how people can mix things as tasteless as flour and milk and get the dishes that arrive warmed (or chilled) at the table

I've heard only positive opinions on you from Millicent and the rest of the coterie, even despite that strange disappearance of yours a few years back. That's what war does to people and old acquaintances. However, with the dreadful war over now, I am sure we can all re-establish the old connections. Do drop by our humble abode for a proper dinner sometime this week. I am sure Millicent will be delighted.
How peculiar that you have heard only positive opinions. I thought for certainty that my strange disappearance had ended my connections with the rest of the coterie, as you call them.
I am certain, however, that your abode would not be called 'humble' under any stretch of imagination. Indeed, I expect it to be inconcievably
You did hear I sold the Manor, did you not?

Merlin, I asked for that. See if the stuckup bastard wants to resume acquaintences now. Why can't I just tell him to go take a long flight with a short broom?
As much as you may wish we have all forgotten you (what a modest little butterfly you are!), that is a far cry from the truth. Your dry and often odd humour and intelligence are sorely missed.
Well, why won't you examine whether our abode would be considered humble or else then? I am sure, after having sold the Manor, which is a true pity, you must be missing that air of quality that only Pureblood houses may have.
The air is certainly different in pureblood homes, isn't it?
A 'modest little butterfly'? My, Montague, you have become rather florid in your old age. I don't believe I could ever refer to myself as a butterfly, modest or not. I thought you rather hated butterflies
I suppose I should examine your abode, shouldn't I? No need to make snap judgments without a full investigation.
Pudding doesn't have to be served cold. It's all a matter of taste.
And you usually need more than just flour and milk to make something even halfway decent. I'm no expert, but there are a few things that are practically impossible to screw up.
If you're dying to learn how to use that 'horrible stove', I could do my best to teach you. And I'll be sure to keep the flame freezing charms handy.

Padma,
While my actual need to cook is fairly rare, I would like to know if it is a skill I am likely to acquire.
At this point, it seems unlikely.
I would like to invite you over to my current residence if you would like to see the monstrosity that I am forced to work with, but I need to know if you would be uncomfortable around other Slytherins. And werewolves.
I doubt that I'd be too uncomfortable. I mean, generally, I'm uncomfortable with everyone. I don't see what any sort of additional categorization would make that any worse.
I usually get off work some time after six. If that's too late, I have Saturday off. Whenever you're free.

Would you be at all adverse to teaching me those basics in Snape's kitchen? I believe you would feel slightly uncomfortable in the surroundings.

Saturday would be perfectly fine. I will make sure that is acceptable with Snape the owner of the house, and owl you the directions.
See you then,
