Theo. How did you come to get Winky in the first place?

When I was younger, I frequented the kitchens, and around..I believe my fifth year....There was an elf who really..stood out among the others. I suppose I originally hired her for my father out of spite, finding the thought of an alcoholic house elf not doing the things he asked quite amusing. As it turns out, however, her only real problem was her employer. Apparently Dumbledore had been attempting to pay her and give her vacation, something that, in light of her total depression and humiliation at being let go by Mr. Crouch, made her feel even more so as if she wasn't a house elf at all. Amazingly enough, we ended up keeping her on and she has been one of our best workers since.
