did you miss me too?

i'm back.

mexico was great. i love the laid back attitude i get just being there, although i must admit that puerto vallarta was more tourist-laid-back than most of my mexico expeditions. we met some of my dad's old friends, still the same beach bums, there. we also met a ton of new people. our first friends were a group of 6 people; doris, joe, stacey, allen, marissa, and mike. all 10 of us went on a long horse trekk, an hour and 10 minutes through the jungle to "El Eden" where the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "Predator" was filmed. I daringly slid down the waterfall into the lake, and swung on a very high up rope swing into the water as well. My mom and Allen took a taxi back. The rest of us rode, and I was very happy with my horse, Blanca Nieves, who was calm the whole time except the time that Mike's horse nipped mine and I almost got thrown off. We had 3 guides, 2 of which were near my age and pretty cute...

That night, we went to the Sport's Bar (I was actually there every night) and Doris began trying to persuade me to dance with her. I refused, but eventually I relaxed more, and I got up to dance with her. I met 3 girls from Texas, all around 22, and we danced with them for awhile, but then they went to their room since they had an early flight, so it was just doris and me on the floor. at one point i looked up and saw a guy, a bit younger looking than me, staring at me, and as soon as he saw i'd noticed he turned beet red and looked away. later on, my parents befriended his, and i found out he was only 14. but the more i talked to him the more i liked him. both he and his brother seemed desperate for some feminine attention. his brother was my age (17, 18 in a couple months) and made his interest apparant when i was swimming one night, about 11, and he was sitting at the pool's edge...he dove into the pool still clothed. they were both cute, but it was so close to the end of my stay, so we just chatted and parted, and that was that.

there was also the fiesta that the hotel held. they had musical chairs with tequilla penalties for the losers. they had intimate balloon popping for married people. and then there was dancing. i danced a lot, starting with my mom, and ending with the activities director and a waiter...interesting night...

i spent a lot of time on the beach, we rented wave runners, went banana boating, and woah of all woahs...I, miss petrified of heights, went para-sailing! it was one of the most amazing things i've ever done! and the guy's that operated it were hilarious...

guy: so you're from california, but where does your family originate? like...your roots!
me: india
g: ohhh yeah, like iraq, huh?
m: no, like india
g: oh, cool. *looks me up and down taking in short shorts and off-soulder shirt* so it's a good thing you're not like most other indians, covered from head to toe...i like your mentality better!
m: yeah, so this thing doesn't go very fast does it?
g: don't worry about it
m: i'm not sure i want to go anymore
g: too late *push* start walking

and within seconds i was in the air...

we also got thrown off the banana boat and had a very hard time getting back on...i was the 1st one to pull myself back up, and then had to help everyone else up...=\

the only thing i missed out on that i REALLY wanted to do were the cables. let me explain. at el eden, they have 13 sets of cables that go diagonally over the jungle canopy. it's the 2nd highes set in the world. slide down these cables in a harness, each one's about 2km, and they video tape it...supposed to be the best view and a huge adrenaline rush! amazing how i can talk myself into doing these things but not roller coasters, eh?

so overall my trip was more of a resort experience than a mexico one, but it was still fun. more people i met-aubrey, jen, kaila, fernanda, sarah, glen, ruth...jen was the sister of the 2 cute guys earlier mentioned. aubrey and kaila were cousins from arizona. fernanda and sarah were 2 tramps from texas. glen and ruth were from chicago.

i think that instead of the usual letting-go-by drinking that takes place in mexico, it was the weather that affected me this time. those of you that know me know that i hardly ever wear shorts or skirts...i'm waaay too self-conscious. however, when you go somewhere like puerto vallarta, you can't wear pants to the beach in such hot, humid weather. so i learned to parade around in swimsuits, mini skirts, and short shorts without caring. to hell with self-cousciousness...everyone has a body right? so everytime i go to mexico i learn to party and relax a little bit more, and of course these lessons are forgotten within a week of my return, but this time i learned to just do what feels right and not care about the opinions of others...i got compliments for wearing mini-skirts and dancing on an empty dance floor, and normally those are things i'd be way to timid to do...so i think what i've gained is a bit more confidence.

i missed you all
