key language and speaking quirks/notes
Klovodokoravi (kloh-voh-doh-kah-rah-vee): Refers to (a) the species of humanoid Chey is a part of, (b) the language his people speaks, or (c) a general descriptor of height - being Klovodokaravi height is to be his height. General translation: "We who are small and many and ancient"
Klovodokaravi language is wordy and fast-paced. Since the Prince-sirs came into their history, the reason behind the wordiness has always been that the Klovodokaravi own nothing but their words, so they make a wealth of it whenever they can.
Hulonodokanum (hoo-lohn-doh-kah-noom): Refers to Chey's home planet. Also called Gund (goondh) or Two-Dena-Four (two suns, fourth planet from the main star).
Common (language): The second language Chey knows. It's a semi-universal language understood and spoken by a grand majority of space-savvy species, usually just called Common or Regular.
When Chey thinks in Common on the seal, it is slower and clunkier, as it is unnatural to try and think mono/dialogue in another language but his natural one. His spoken Common is much smoother, but...lol how many people can actually hear him.
Prince-sir(s): A classification for the superior species on the home planet. The Klovodokaravi call them Gwinilivahanann (gwihn-lih-lihv-aha-nahn), or literally: "Long-lasting oppressors and masters." Titles of nobility are tied to the history of slavery among his people and generally unsettle him.
Touch-talk: A lot of language cues and responses come from physical contact, but only if it's with a trusted person. Chey will instinctively latch on or touch a person he likes and is listening to, giving his approval by touching the face (if he can reach).
In contrast, he doesn't generally reciprocate if someone else touches unexpectedly. It's rude and threatening for a non-Klovodokaravi to touch first unless Chey has given his permission in some fashion.
Cheyndulamaribannb (chayn-doo-lah-mahree-bahn): Klovodokaravi names are very literal descriptors of the person. Chey's basically means "Sea eyes and hands that do not let go."
