1. What gender of character do you play more of, male or female? Why?: Male. The only explanations I think I have for this are that 1.) really? There aren't that many strong, balanced female characters, IMO, in a lot of my fandoms. They always seem to fall into some annoying stereotype. And 2.) I'm a major, massive tomboy and can't understand my own gender anyway. It's not to say I don't have any females. And they're pretty widely varied in personality. (Whereas when it comes to guys, it always seems like I have a type.)

2. Is this different or the same as your own gender?: All female, baby. Bodily, anyway.

3. Do you find that your gender makes it easier or more challenging to play your characters?: I go back to the tomboy thing again. A lot of women...unless I really, really like the character or I've made them up myself, I'm never really sure how to play them and I feel like I'm just always feeling them out cautiously. For some reason, my guys are always much more rounded out. I don't know if my gender has anything to do with anything, really.

4. What sexuality / gender identity do your characters have?: All of them so far have been comfortable with their own gender. As far as sexuality goes, they tend to be bi. Some of the time it's because they don't really show their sexuality in canon much anyway, or because I happen to develop them that way (believe me, I had absolutely no intentions of making Billy such a huge closeted bisexual when I first started fleshing him out, and anywhere else I play him purely hetero), or because in canon that seems to make sense, or because I personally happen to ship them with both genders. It just seems to always fall either ambiguously when I don't even write romance for some characters or just is. Got a handful that are straight and a handful that are gay, though.

5. How does your character's sexuality and gender identity define / affect their personality?: I'm not sure if it affects their personality, but it certainly affects how they deal with others. ...And by 'they', I mean Billy, because most of my other characters are chill with everyone and everything. XD But I mean, I don't think sexuality should affect personality. I mean, it kind of is a part of who they are, but it has little to do with how they act, I think.

6. Do you tend to predominantly play characters of a certain sexuality? If so, why?: Bi. See above.

7. To what extent to you write / play your character's sexual or romantic life?: It depends on the character, obviously. I like to visit Billy's sexual life because there's a stark contrast in his sexual life and his romantic life; you have the caring and gentleness of his sort-of-relationship with Penny versus the violent sexual abuse of Scott. His sexual issues are kind of a Big Deal, so. In-general, I only do anything really smutty if there's a reason behind it other than it's hot, because I'd rather not turn a perfectly decent, meaningful piece of prose into a pornfest. I'm probably not that good at it anyway. :P

8. How has the character's romantic life affected his character development?: Dude, Penny IS his character development in the movie, I swear to god. But seriously, his closet bisexual nature is one of many reasons why he deals with males so differently than females--more guarded, more negative, more distant and cautious. He's been hurt before by guys, but all of his relationships with his short-term girlfriends ended fairly well. It also makes him less open when it comes to talking about anything sexual and more nervous when he has to deal with the topic.

9. Do you set 'ships' or plan for your characters to be together with other characters, or do you allow their relationships to develop organically? Why?: I try not to plan them. I've been surprised by some, even. Some I joke about and am not sure may ever even happen. But I try to let things happen naturally. It feels less forced that way.

10. Do you change the gender identities / preferred sexualities of canon characters? Why / why not?: Eh, unless it's absolutely positively stated in canon irrefutably? I say it's always up for discussion.

Except for genderbent characters. Those are always just so much god damn cracky fun.
