I guess the theme of the world, or maybe just the U.S. considering I don't live anywhere else and wouldn't know, is this: Have the pro side of things until the cons of it somehow effect you ( Read more... )

That was very Jarhead.

Anyway, I am in full support of the media doing actual work and showing good, intense footage of war scenes. People are really out of touch with what war actually means - in the US they've barely experienced it in their own or neighbouring lands. I'm not saying this so that people will be more against war, I just think a little reality check would be entirely appropriate. How can someone be for or against war without analyzing all the very plausible ramifications?

That was very a person in the marines?
Good one, Mila...good one.

I'm in support of the media telling the truth. I'm in support of the media not exaggerating or manipulating. I'm in support of the truth...unbiased truth. I'm also in support of people taking a side because they know both the pros and cons and will stick to that side.

I DO NOT support people who switch because the con caught them. Especially if they knew the cons in the first place.

A reality check for us was when the trade centers were bombed. People actually thought about things for... a few months. Then it was back to people listening to lil Mikey Moore.

War is war, it's a part of life. I don't know if it's good or bad. People die, but they are going to die someday anyhow. At least it's more of their choice to die when they join the service.

yes well i can see it would be hard to care about someones opinion when it is so flimsy as that. I think a lot of people don't think things through. But it's complicated. Like mila says i think its a good idea that people have a better image of the realities of war. Yet, it seems that if people really thought about it they'd all be against war..? I don't know, it's foolish.

anyway i dont think that is gray areas so much as hypocricy
