How do you define family?

Interesting question, particularly for someone like me who never had the possibility of blood relations since I have no blood…not in the traditional sense

"You had a wife and children?" She knew it was probably nosy, but she couldn't not ask.

He looked at her sideways. "Yes, I did?" An arched eyebrow that mildly asked 'what of it?'.

"Nothing. It just makes me happy to hear that." And sad. He'd had a wife and lost her. Like he lost everyone. "What was she like?"

"She was the last of her line." His eyes glazed slightly a moment, a slight smile on his face before refocussing on Bonnie. "Bonecia Knight."
